November med thread

    Happy November!

I am so grateful that this board seems to be seeing a little more activity. Thanks to everyone who posted on the October thread.

I've been playing around with low-carb for the last few months. I was on the Slow Carb Diet (Tim Ferriss' creation) and dropped down to a weight I haven't seen in years. What surprised me, though, was the sense of well-being I had without sugar and grains. The Slow Carb diet allows for a weekly "cheat day" in which you can eat anything you want, in any amount. Of course, being an alkie I'd binge on sugar and feel like absolute shit every Saturday. I would actually look forward to cheat day being over so I could go back on the diet. I'm thinking of trying the ketogenic diet next - not to lose weight, but to continue that sense of well-being.

What's new with everyone? I look forward to your updates.

    Hi Serenity

Sorry, I missed the Oct thread, a good idea!

Been remiss posting wise - Busy *busy* work wise so not too much time for my own stuff

Bac wise - Over the last few months I have tapered down to 30mg twice a day which appears to be satisfying me as I really have no desire to drink. The Pianna still likes having the girls around on a Friday and getting in a right old state. Although it annoys the fuck out of me I do have the last laugh watching them making tits of themselves. Oh, and I wake up fresh and snigger when I hear her moaning and whinging the following morning - lol......

I had a couple of dabbles at just 30mg a day but felt something was missing (if that makes sense) so I am happy at 60mg now. i think after my 2 year anniversary in January, I may knock it on head totally

I seriously think Bac has enabled me to reset my attitude towards alcohol, i realise life goes on without it and in fact tastes sweeter in the long term without it

    Regards

    Bacman

You really did the right thing, Baclofenman, by staying sober for a good long while and staying at/near your switch dose for an extended period of time. You and terryk really stand as examples for how to be successful with baclofen.

_serenity_ I’ve been playing around with Keto for awhile. I’m hoping it will help with brain fog. I don’t know if it’s the HDB, but I’ve been at the same dose for so long I wouldn’t think so. I’m thinking of adopting the bulletproof program for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. Work is really busy and I wish my brain was functioning at 100%!

Congratulations Baclofenman on your continued success!

@_serenity & mom - there is a resurgent interest in the UK in HFLC diets (high fat/low carb), these are impressively successful in people with type 2 diabetes, & produce weight loss in most people without hunger pangs.

Molly78 - HFLC is becoming a hugely popular diet here in the states, too. I've been following Mark Sissoon's blog Mark's Daily Apple for many years, and he just came out with a book called The Keto Reset Diet. It's on my wish list.
Mom2JTx3, I've been following the Bulletproof guy, Dave Asprey, for a few years now as well! I've made Bulletproof Coffee a number of times - it's delicious but doesn't seem to travel well. When I would make it at home to take to work, the frothiness would die down and it wasn't nearly as good. It's damn good stuff right out of the blender. It never seemed to fill me up, though.

_serenity_. It doesn’t get me to lunch either. I even ordered the coffee from him because he states somewhere that it could be a mold issue. Same thing. I do like the brain octane oil though and Costcos carries the Kerrygold grass fed butter. That is great stuff! I have bulletproof coffee every morning. I bought his book Head Strong because of the brain fog which is what makes me think grass fed would help.
