    Feel Like Drinking

    Hang in There

Hi! I know how hard it is to stop. In fact, you are so brave to cry out for help! How many times have I cried out to God and then drove to the liquor store! You really, really need to find someone you can call and talk to when you are weak. I'm in the same boat you are girl, so I don't know how much help I can be on that level, but I do know that I have lined up my friends to help me when I'm weak.

If I get stronger, I'll be happy to help you in your weak moments...I'm still trying to get to that point though...I'll be praying for you!

thank you petpeeve and gaby for taking the time to respond. and thank you Micki and best for your encouraging posts. i am really greatfull for the support i receive from members of this site.

things for me have been up and down. earlier this week i had a 2 day binge. i came out of it with my hair dyed purple and bruises everywhere including my face. yeah stupid i know. my husband and i now have 3 days sober and i am hanging on to that. i feel like and idiot having to start over and over AF. i don't know why i can't make it stick. it surely is my BEAST. i have supplements and CDs coming soon. i am hoping that gives me the extra will-power i need.

i hope you are all doing well with your programs with it is abstinence or moderation. (((((((((Bunny Hugs)))))))))

        peace and love,

          Lizzie,

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better. Hang tough, girl. Give it a few more days and it will start to level out and get better. Keep up those healthy fluids.

Good luck to you and hubby.

HaHa ha! I got grounded for a week for wailing on brother and we both had black eyes. Kinda hard to lie to parents huh? So... relative to that, I don't even have to say this do I?

I've thought for months that you just post to see your own postings. You have nothing intention of quitting drinking and are no help to others. Take a much needed break from the message board.
            :ignore: this poster please. Thanks.

What?? And you post 5 posts since Dec because you want to help everyone?? Thanks!!

btw, "nothing intention" is pretty idiomatic.

I guess if I were you I would hesitate to post to see my own, too, because apparently you can't formulate a cohesive thought.

Take a break from the message board.

I'm a bit confused - well I'm not cos I know who you are talking about and totally agree but it's not obvious to anyone who doesn't know who has been posting this sort of unhelpful cr*p and targeting one member in particular. Are we gonna name names?? Or am I missing something?? (very likely - I'm not the sharpest knife in the block :H !!)

                  Bessie,

You are right. I guess I should have responded to the person who was attacking one of our members.

DoMePuppy, do not attack a person specifically and tell them to quit posting. This is not helpful.

I do not generally jump into a fray. No, I don't ever jump into a fray but you chose to attack one person.

                  I attack you. Go away.

                        HI LIZZIE

Hope you're feeling better now and the demons have gone away. I am on DAY 13 of none drinking and its been fairly easy because I'm doing this by myself in isolation. I think to try and do it with another drinker is really difficult. I had a friend who was in trouble and she came over to stay with me and that led to a really big binge. Now, I'm determined not to get involved or try and help anyone else until I am stronger.

I go for lots of walks and think about the drink and if I wasn't sober what I couldn't be doing - what secrets I have to keep trying to show everybody that I'm sober. I also write a diary - in the morning and before I go to bed and I find that helps because it makes me think of the consequences. Baths are good as, I find, unfortunately, is housework! When I'm on a binge my flat goes to pot - everything goes to pot all I care about is that bottle and there's no solution in it - when you come round again everything is exactly the same only you feel worse and theres a hell of a lot of clearing up to do!

I did attend some meetings at my local alcohol support team and one thing somebody came out with is

ISN'T IT GREAT WAKING UP SOBER?

And it is - think of all the things you won't be able to do if you have a drink. Think of all you'll be able to achieve if you don't have a drink. I also think we did not change in ourselves because the drink won't. Its always there calling to us and we have to resist it. I don't know if it gets easier because in the past I've only ever achieved five weeks sobriety.

All I can say is hang in there - the rewards I'm sure will be great.

                        Linda

                          ^_^

As the parent of a wonderful adult son who became addicted to an alcohol, I have read countless books and materials on this topic. This is the single most helpful source I have found. The advice is both hard-hitting and compassionate, and the way in which it is presented is very readable and accessible. If someone you love is addicted to alcohol or a drug, book sometimes are help to us. Don't give up. Read some book advises and get started. Good luck to you and your loved person.

                            Vitamins!

                            Hey Lizzie
I cannot exaggerate the importance of vitamins and supps in helping with the cravings - a lot of the time, the physical cravings are a product of detoxing and lack of common nutrients from alcohol abuse. Some of the ones I found most effective: Vitamin B (particularly niacin), Vitamin C (Ester C is great), L-GLUTAMINE, a good multi vitamin, GABA.
                            They really really help.
Good luck and keep us 'posted'

I agree. Also, an inner cleanse/detox really helped me. It got rid of built up toxins and reducecd cravings to almost nothing. Plus, I feel really good.

                                Hi Lizzie,

I can only agree with the others. Heaps of water, good food.

I know it may seem like hell at the moment, but it s truly worth it.

It is merely your body getting rid of all that POISON.

It is great news that you are both doing this together.

It truly is worth it. I have not felt so good in years and it is only after 1 month.

I urge you to hang in there. I found that a sweet drink helped me as well for the craving of AL in my mouth.

                                Whatever it takes. Whatever works.

Good luck and congratulations on your decision.

                                Warm Regards

                                Brett.
