    fourth day of no alcohol

razy day......almost non-functional. Went for a walk and that was good but trying to clean or to think, was unable to ....felt like I had a case of dementia....correction...don't think you get a case of dementia...you either have it or you don't. Trouble sleeping and no that is normal but this other fogginess? Have I been this way for a long time, been drinking daily for God only know for how long and I am seventy so....perhaps I just did not realize how far down in the hole I am. Could use some support, very muchly...help help help!

(p.s. my grampa drank and smoked until he was about 75. lived to be 96!) get busy, you got some livin' to do!

    good luck,

Well done, you are 4 days better than me.

I've read loads that says that you get fussy head for a week or so after you stop drinking. I'll find out in a few days when I try. Great that you are persisting with it.

Not sleeping is a pain though. I have always been bad at it. Amazing how many novels you can read in the course of the night. Will be time to get up here in an hour or so and another day begins. I find just accepting the not sleeping helps rather than worrying that I should be asleep.

Best of luck with day 5 AF

I think that a ?fuzziness? or detracted state is what described it best for myself. It was day 4 that I was able to start doing things (not just sitting there feeling mentally and physically terrible). I, personally, found that day 4 was also the turning point when my sleep pattern started improving.

All in all a good day to reach! If you are anything like my experience from here things get better. Good luck. (I?m on day 6!)

I remember I would feel really sort of disjointed recovering from a binge - it was as if there was a gap between my brain, arms, legs, hands and mouth!

In rehab on librium we had a joke that there was about a 5 second delay between brain firing and action happening - meant some very interested things got said out loud. It's all part of your nervous system getting back to normal. You have been covering it in a blanket of alcohol and it's clearing it out.

Stick in there - feels better from around day 5-7 onwards.

I have the same fuzziness of thought and lack of concentration.
I'ts been said that'it's just your brain rewiring itself after the bashing it's been taking over the years. It took me a while but clear thought eventually came back to me.

Mb, congrats on making to day 4! That's great!

The fogginess will go away. It takes longer for some. It really could be your liver working to get rid of the toxins in your body. You've finally given that poor little organ a break from working double time for so many years. When I went through this phase of fog, my skin was bad to. I really feel it's the body purging all that toxic waste. This will pass. Just give your body time to adjust.

Drink a lot of water and fruit juice and herbal teas do help a lot. Helps to flush the system.

Best of luck. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Are you taking vitamins? And drink plenty of water....you could be dehydrated....most heavy drinkers are. The head will clear up....in fact, you'll find yoursef thinking clearer than you have in years....

These first few days....eat well, lots of fruits and vegetables, drink a lot of water, and get as much exercise as you can. Before you know it, you will be sleeping better and thinking clearer...

                      MB,

Day 4 and 5 can be tough, but look at it this way, you won't ever have to do them again!! Yay!!

Once through them, you will be amazed at how quickly you start to feel better. You are only 70 years young, after all.

I think that is the new 50, isn't it?

I agree with Chief, take your supplements, eat lots of good nutritious food and stay well hydrated.

Soon, fuzziness will leave, sleep with be better than you have had in years and soon you will be so happy with how it feels to be sober, you will never, ever want to go back into that mess again.

Keep us posted and keep posting, you will very much enjoy going back and reading the first posts and see how far you come.

                      Love,

Hi MB, Glad to meet you! We're close in AF days and in years too! We've both got a lot of toxic clean-up to do. Do you have a bathtub? Get about a quart of hydrogen peroxide, plug up the overflow drain and soak in a very warm bath with the H2O2 for as long as you can stand it. I read and doze. Don't do this before bedtime as it can be very energizing. Besides everything else, you need to load up on magnesium. Take calcium at bedtime, along with melatonin and theanine... you'll sleep like a baby. Do a colon cleanse asap. There's everything from stuff you swallow to professionally administrated. That's the first thing you need to do to get your head clearer. Then, try any one of any number of liver flushes. Do the H2O2 bath as often as you can. How are you feeling otherwise? Day 5 for me and I'm feeling pretty good except that I caught a cold. I still can't run up the hill like I used to but, at least, I can walk up it again without my heart bursting.
Considering what we've already been through, we have very interesting days ahead to experience:h g.
