Am drinking now and say WTF

    KAT,

You go on the web (or your local phone book) and search for AA in you local area. There will be a helpline phone number to call. Just call and tell them you need to find a meeting. You can ask for a women's meeting if you want but if I were in crisis, I would get myself to the next available meeting. At your first meeting you will find a "guide" to all the local meetings. At least that's how I did it.

    Best of luck,
    Beck

Hey guys, I went online and looked up my area. I think I found a meeting I can go to after my therapist tomorrow. I emailed them. Thanks

          Kat,

Good you emailed them. Sometimes the web guides are outdated. That's why I recommened calling. The person on the phone has the latest meeting schedules and can walk you through the "jargon". Open vs closed meetings, etc.

I have been AF for nearly 7 months and did not venture into my first AA meeting until last month. Now I try to go at least once a week: I consider the AA meeting my AF "booster shot".

          Good luck,
          Beck

My Dad drank for 50 years rather heavily. He has a wrap sheet for DUI's and hit and runs a mile long. He served in state prison for years and still came out drinking. About 4 years ago he just up and quit drinking. I dont know how he did it but he did. He swears that it takes atleast a full year to actually start becoming normal again. I am not sure how true that is but he swears by it and he is a whole different person now. If his theory is true then 90 days is just not enough.
