    Death in Family

I've just returned from a funeral - I don't wanna close my eyes cause I know I'll have night dreams from what I saw :-( Vodka is Not gonna help me, so why am I drowning my sorrow via the bottle? It just magnifies the pain - but I still drink from the bottle like there's No tomorrow. I just Know there's a Better way to deal with this...Why can't I find it?

Hi Cozygirl... if you are still on-line... come into the Chat Room... I can't sleep right now and maybe we could just chat. I lost some dear people recently and it is tough... really, really tough

      Cozygirl,
Sorry to hear that you are in pain.
The loss of loved ones can be very traumatic.
The vodka, will make you feel worse in the long run.
      Try to drink some water.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Try and live with it just moment by moment- don't worry about getting through the morning or night, just concentrate on getting through that moment. The pain does subside- in the meantime maybe you can get your doctor to give you something to help you sleep short term?

I'm so sorry for your loss cozygirl. I understand. I lost my sweet mother in law just two weeks ago. I miss her terribly. It is a sad time. Try to drink lots of water and pamper yourself, right now. Sending you hugs! Best

Hi Cozygirl - I lost my boyfriend on June 23rd. I stayed as drunk as I could for the whole week afterwards... I have little memory of that whole week (and who I called - UGH!!).

you don't mention who it was you lost... but I gather someone close. I know the pain!! And I didn't go to his memorial svc. since he lived in CT and I'm in FL. I didn't even know his family... or long-time friends. He'd only lived here for a few years.

I know I've gotten better over the past almost 3 months. At first, I TRULY was Crazy! I went over the edge... People kept saying the pain would lessen over time - and... it does. I'll always miss him and love him, though. And sometimes I still feel that pain of loss. But it WILL get better!!

My prayers are with you. I agree with best: pamper yourself! Eat what you want, get manicure, take bubble bath --- anything to make the moments pass with some peace...

I am very sorry for your loss Cozy. When my Mom died 9 years ago. I allowed my life to fall apart. I had not had a drink for ten years, and I began drinking again. Since that time, I have only put together a year and a half without AL. Now, I am struggling again; mainly on weekends. I know that this is not what my Mom wants for me. Drinking myself sick will not bring her back. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending strength your way:l

                    Death in Family

Hello Again - As much as I wanted to pull the covers over my head this AM - I got myself to work on time this morning. If I'm busy there's no time to dwell which leads to drinking, I s'pose. It was my only younger brother who passed away after a lengthy illness. He's no longer in pain which I'm grateful for...but the sadness of it all got ahold of me.

Thank you everybody for your kind words. I'm glad I had the courage to post what I was feeling earlier, because it calmed me down. Take care and I will too.

It is always so hard to lose someone that we love and it takes time for us to heal and get on with life...I am sure that they would be honored if you would make the decision to take care of you...Remember,nothing is so bad that a drink won't make it worse..You are in my prayers...Blessings..
