        Welcome Back Cheech
6 months is Awesome, so you know that you can do it!!! I know that when I am in the early stages of withdrawal I can only eat things like toast, plain pasta, rice, maybe some chicken soup, lots of water. You can try what is called a BRAT diet. That is bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. Thats what I use for my patients' who have stomach issues. Glad u r back.

Boil some pasta in some chicken broth. It tastes great, is easy on the stomach, and gives some much needed carbs. It really seems to work for me. Gabby.

                Hello!

I'm no doctor, but what about protein shakes? I particularly like the EAS Myoplex Lite Strawberry flavored. I just blend it with water and ice and it is delicious and nutritious! You can buy it either online or at most health food stores. Sometimes I'll add fresh strawberries to the mix.

                You can do it!

Welcome back, cheech! 6 months is fantastic! You should be proud of yourself for that. Small amounts of food, more often, helped me in the beginning. Overloading my stomach was not good. Remember, your body will probably want carbs and sugar - because the body converts the alcohol to sugar. As long as there is no weight issue, go for the noodles, baked and mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, mac n' cheese - Yummy! Good luck!

What kind of stress are you going through that you can't eat? What about scrambled eggs and toast? That's always good. Also, try putting the grapes in the freezer and you'll feel like you're eating something a little more exotic. I snack on them when I'm dieting.

To be honest stress is Stress and I thought my mind set would get my beyond it. I slipped recently too and my appetite went out the window. I had to force 'breakfast' down my throat at some point just to make sure I was eating properly. They always say Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but I agree. I went on a health regime about 3 months ago and I realised just how important that meal is. Try and eat small portions of what you used to eat. Anything is better than nothing at the end of the day. Being totally honest as well. I was lazy!! I couldn't be arsed making anything. I made Pot Noddles etc. and eat when I could. When I felt hungry....I eat. When I felt tired.......I slept. I know it's no routine but your body will tell you when its crying out for help as it where. I just went with the flow for a while and then when I felt stronger i started putting myself through it. You have to get your body back into a routine and that will take time, like anything. Be patient but try and eat something in the morning, even a bowl of cerial. If you feel hungry but not ready to eat a meal eat some fruit.

Good luck my friend I can really appreciate where you're at. It's not easy.

When I'm not feeling well I always open a can of chicken noodle soup, and stir in a beaten egg for more protein. Healthy liquids are important, though whole fruit is better than fruit juice.

                          Hi Cheech,

When my children were little, the hardest thing was to cook a nice meal with all the interruptions and needing to have eyes everywhere. So why not try a decent canned chicken noodle soup to which you add a few fresh vegetables that you given a quick shot in the microwave? While the pasta is certainly easy on the stomach, the vegetables (softened a bit by the microwave then added to the soup) give you some good nutrition. Serve with a crusty roll (also from the grocery store/bakery section - freeze a bag of them and only pull out the ones you need for your meal) and it's nutrition-stocked. One of the things we've all done while heavy into the cups is to neglect the healthy ingredients that bolster our well-being and immune systems. No time like the present!

That is all great advice and I really appreciate all the support, not feeling much of that in my personal life right now. Thank you all once again it is comforting knowing there is a forum where people understand what I am going through trying to beat this beast!!

Here's something weird that helped me and I don't know why. Maybe because it's so high in water content? Watermelon. It's good for the kidneys, too. I ate so much of it and it helped me so much. Welcome back!
