Hi sweetgum. Good job on stopping. Good luck on keeping it that way. Drink as much water as you can and with fresh lemon squeezed into it if possible. That'll help flush out the toxins. Eat healthy - lots of small portions to stabilize your blood sugar. Eggs or bananas are good for a hangoverif you have one. Avoid caffeine. Hot soak in the tub with some hot tea to sweat a bit. Fresh air, go for a walk. Pour out any AL that remains in the house. Write down how badly you feel right now (in detail) and read it if you feel the pull of AL. Stick by for support! You can do this!

          Hope?

Drinking lots of water, there's no al in the house, though i have managed to resist threateneing my husband until he gives in and gets me some which is what i have been doing the past week. It's tonight i'm dreading though. Last night was bad enough. The sweating, halluciantion, horrible dreams if i do manage to get any sleep. I really hate that. Thanks for the replies x

I know all about that. Make a plan. Go get a good book (download RJ's book from here and read it it you haven't), some magazines, some movies, something to do if you can't sleep and are feeling rough. (I know, rough is an understatement) Most importantly have non-AL stuff in the house you like. Take a warm bubblebath. Chamomile tea is calming, Get some calms forte at a healthfood store if you can (I don't know where you are), passion flower extract, something with 5HTP in it, calcium/ magnesium supplement. Sooner or later you are going to have to go through this so you are going to have to put on your big girl pants and do it. Use Croft's "MEAN IT" voice and tell hubby to NOT give in to you. You need his support and enabliing is not supporting. Have all your "no drinking" tools ready to use so you don't focus on your withdrawal so much. Get on here and go to chat for help. Everyone will be pulling for you. We have all been there and you can get through it!

I'm telling ya, I know what you're going through. Some may not agree with this but you'll be going through some major sugar withdrawls. (Alcohol is high in sugar content.) Eat sweets if you need to. Let yourself just for this day to make it through. I know you will!

Go to bed early so you can get SOME sleep. You may wake up lots during the night but if you start early you can manage to get some rest, at least. Were you able to hydrate during the day? Once you get thru the first several days it will be much better but you'll need to draw from all the inner strength you can muster. I wish you all the best thru this and I hope to get to know you better.

Yes, rest, water and if you can manage some food? Your blood sugar levels will be all over the place and that will make you feel worse. It does get easier I promise you.
