    ADVICE NEEDED THANKS

    Hi all
I have been a member of MWO for about 3 years now. I have only managed to stop drinking for 9 months when I had my second daughter. I have two daughters, 3 and 1. They are my life. Today is going to be the day I try and stop AGAIN. Over the last few days I have drank quite heavily, only on a night time. Last night I drank 2 bottles of wine and woke up not knowing how I got to bed. My head is throbbing - I have obviously banged it and don't remember. My husband is sick to death of me and doesn't even comment anymore. I feel I am the worlds worst mother and can't understand why I do this.
Can anyone give me any advice on any things I can eat and drink to ease the withdrawal. I have multivitamin tablets and some milk thistle. I really want to give this my best shot. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, you're not the world's worst mother I'm sure, but those kids do need their mother sober, so you're going to have to start to work on that. I am sure you have already pictured the consequences of one of them getting sick in the night, and you passed out and unable to get them to help... The good thing is you went for 9 months sober when you were pregnant, so you KNOW you can do it.

The bad thing is, there are no easy answers. TODAY - Eat healthy and drink tons of water. Take a long nap. Apologize to husband. Do not touch alcohol. TOMORROW - Repeat. THE NEXT DAY - Repeat.

          ADVICE NEEDED THANKS

          Seto,

I was drinking 2 bottles of wine a night and blacking out nightly. With two children at home. Not as young as yours but they still need me. One of my motivations for coming here was them. Angel's right, what if they need help in the middle of the night and you're passed out? That was my realization one morning when I was ever so thirsty and popping aspirin. I'd had it with myself. I wasn't a mother I was a wino. Plain and simple. I was disgusted with myself.

Please read the book, you can download it for $12.95, the cost of a bottle of wine. It really helped me. As you've already read, drink as much water as you can. Follow the MWO program, post here, read posts. We're here for you. You certainly aren't alone.

You're not the world's worst mother. You're here. You're already taking the first step. Congratulations on that!

          Take care,
          Becoming

Also order the hypnotherapy CD's. They are expensive but worth it I think. Not only do they help you with the cravings but they also help improve your self esteem which is vital when you stop drinking.

I think the best short term recommendations are to not drink and to get plenty of fluids in your system. The first 2 - 3 days will be rough but you can get through.

                Thanks for the advice everyone.
Just wanted to say my husband doesn't drink, he is a muslim. I would never ever leave the little ones with noone to help them if needed. I am definately not trying to excuse my problem as my girls most definately need a sober mummy, just I would never put them in any danger. Good thinking about putting a photo of them on the fridge, I will do that. So far so good, I know this is going to be a very tough battle but I'm gonna give it my best shot. Thanks againXXX
