              Liver Pain?

              Hi all,

So glad to find this forum..... I have the same pain/ache just under my right rib which radiates around to the back. My ALT and GT are slightly up but I have scared myself to death that it cancer - day 8 AF - does it really take a full 30 days for the pain to fade?

Bettingdata, first off big welcome! you've found a great community.

it may take 30 days for that pain to subside but for me it went away in about 2. I'd suggest getting some lecithin supplements (such as a tablespoon of lecithin granules) twice per day. that will help your liver to start to clear out the fatty deposits. and of course keep of the great AF days! you're well over the physical addiction and onto the complicated part. in the immortal words of Homer Simpson: d-oh! stupid brain!

Again, I think it's important if you have a concerning health issue you get medical advice, with honest input. I KNOW THAT'S HARD TO DO! My doctor is my buddy now that I've really opened up to him, when I got up the nerve to ask for Topomax. We share how it's working, he opens up to me! But, if you are worried, there is a problem somewhere, either with your health, or with your understanding of your drinking. Just my thoughts.

                    Liver Pain?

I had extensive bloodwork done in October and everything was perfect. Plus, I stopped drinking on December 31st and I still have intermittent pain. Either I should worry or everyone else should stop.

Bloodwork will usually not show liver trouble until it's a big issue.

Hi, I am new here but have read alot of posts and do believe this is where I need to be for support. I too have liver pain and the time is now for me to do something about my problem or I really do fear what could happen.

                          Liver Pain?

Congrats....Im no doc, but I have the same type of pain. When I was recently hospitalized I had an ultra-sound that showed and somewhat enlarged and fatty liver. Being AF for the past three weeks has made the pain and discomfort subside. Still, check with your physician- he/she will prolly send you for some sort of imaging and get some blood for liver function & enzymes.
                          Good luck.

the tool box is useful . good luck

                                Liver Pain?

                                Hi All,

Well I went AF for 14 days and then did the usual thing of thinking 'one whiskey to chill out with on a Friday night isn't going to hurt anyone is it'.

I am back drinking but only very small amounts (1-2 glasses of wine a day), the problem is this pain in my right flank is always there from the moment I wake til the moment I go to sleep pretending I am making it up.

I have been to the GP, liver enzymes are slightly raised so he had referred me to the Liver Clinic at the end of March. Just seems a long time to wait, you panic about it being cancer and stuff!!!!

Just wish it would go away and I could give up the drink forever!!

                                C
