Tessie I don't want to be a downer here but the liver can have some damage even if the blood work doesn't show it, so it is good not to become too complacent about it. My mom died of liver disease (she did not drink, it was from illness from her childhood that damaged her liver) and her blood work never showed damage to her liver until it was too late to do anything about it.

Liver Pain?
Oh I am in now way downsizing my blood work results. If anything, I am thankful and plan to take it as a way to be grateful and like I said eventually cut all AL out. That is my goal. I am in no way going back to my old ways. I am celebrating my results sober and plan to eat healthy and excercise. Not sure how that may have gotten turned around. I know how serious liver problems can be. I have a best friend who's dad died from cirrohsis and he did not drink. I also know a man that did drink and he died.
But I do recommend everyone going to the doctor and having test. This can at least give you a direction.

Liver Pain?
:new:
Hi, sorry it's not reassuring, but I had the same liver symptoms recently. Not painful or all the time but uncomfortable. I had my enzymes etc. checked and I have hepatitis. The doc said it's curable but obviously not if I keep drinking a bottle of champers every night. Depressing but unavoidable conclusion - my friend the bottle's responsible. BTW what's a fifth? We don't have that in OZ. Is it more than 5 glasses of wine?

Liver damage
Funk & Wagnalls Family Medical Guide. Symptoms of Cirrhosis--"There may be a dull abdominal ache, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea". I started having a dull pain also, that's one of the reasons I wanted to stop. Thankfully it went away when I stopped drinking. I'd get a blood test if I were you just to ease my mind. Be well. :elk:Starting over again

Liver Pain?
I've been getting abdominal pains and a bloated/full feeling the last few days which is why i'm AF tonight, a very rare occurrence. I was really overdoing it the few days beforehand and I'm inclined to believe that I managed to give myself gastritis. Anyway I'm gonna try and sober up for a few weeks and I've started taking VitB and Milk Thistle.
Hopefully I can make a habit of this, but there's one major problem: I really, REALLY, like beer. I'm not even so sure I am an alcoholic since I'm not even the least bit tempted for the bottle of scotch on my bar, but man I'd sure love a beer :/

When I went to my doctor's and discussed my drinking he seemed more concerned with my kidneys rather than my liver. He said, 'I can check your liver as well if you wish...'

Yep, when my husband said to me, 'You're not THAT bad!' THAT bad meaning what? For me, being an alcoholic is what's going on in my head, not what I'm drinking or how much I'm drinking.Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the one who will keep you on track. AAthlete;525710 wrote: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but not liking scotch has nothing to do with whether you are an alcoholic or not. That (to me) depends on whether you are in control of your drinking (no matter what your poison pick is) or your drinking is in control of you. If you can take it or leave it or if you can consistently stop after one or two, walk away and not think about it then most likely you don't have a problem. Otherwise, you need to be open and honest with yourself about your drinking and the mental obsession that it can bring about.

I only drank vodka for years and years. Absolutely hated beer. So decided I could moderate my drinking by just drinking beer (plus not have the black outs) Well 3 years later I was drinking almost a case of beer a day. I didn't realize that was alcoholic thinking at it's worse.
