    not feeling too good

I am work and feeling a bit shaky. Feel like an anxiety thing. Trying to be calm. Can not leave. I just feel like balling. Sorry to need help so soon. I will check back on my cel when I can. Advise please.

    Hi TeeHayDal,

Sorry you're not feeling good. Deep breaths. Visualize a lovely warm beach. The sun is shining down on you, warming your skin, and a soft breeze blows by. You can hear the waves crash, and all is right with the world. Breathe in. Think "I am calm". Breath out. Think "I am well". Repeat.

Do you take anything for anxiety? Some people here swear by "gaba", or True Calm, or Calms Forte. I know you can't leave work right now, but perhaps after work, make a trip to a natural foods store, or a vitamin shop. They all seem to have "mood" sections these days. Can you listen to music at work? If you have a radio, perhaps find a classical station.

Above all, remember, "this too shall pass". You are not alone. There is a huge community of people all over the world who have been where you are right now. We're with you. You will feel better, soon. Hugs to you. Sara

can you go outside for a few minutes and take some deep breaths, or maybe to the bathroom and breathe deeply?

know it is a temporary feeling and it will pass. can you close your eyes and rest yourself for a second or two?

Depending on what you are going through GABA might help, but if your anxiety is caused by DT's you may need to go to the doctor for something a littel stronger just to get you through. Also drink plenty of water or herbal tea, NO CAFFEINE!

Ride it out... your mind/brain/body need time to get back to normal and you may have all kinds of unpleasant emotional states... many people respond to them by drinking, which of course just aggravates the situation. With anxiety, the best response is, like others said, take a couple of nice deep breaths and focus your attention on something else... not on fears or worries! And especially not on drinking!

What I have found... no word of a lie, that helped me feel better, was a glass of OJ. The stuff with the pulp.

Big hugs to you. Coming off of AL is complete H*ll and I wonder why so many of us continously go through it? Do memories of how painful it is really diminish in our brains? This addiction is pretty powerful (well that is an understatement!).

As WIP said, a lot of people go back to drinking after a day or a few days because of the discomfort of coming off of AL. If you can ride through this, things only get better.

                  XOXOXO

Thank you all very much.... When all this started at work, and after reading some of your post, I went into the bathroom and turned off lights and took deep breaths.... Seemed to help. Then I just got busy. Went to the gym after work which helped also..... Geez..... But two days now.... That is a start... I can't post at work unless I use my phone so that is why my response is late... Hope you all are well and having a good day...Thanks again.....

THD, I am with you about not posting at work -- I would never want work to trace my history. I had 2 panic attacks in the last couple of months; never had them before but hubby has quite a history. They both happened when I was hungover. Hydration (or lack thereof) and stress are issues/triggers. Just something to think about. Hope you are doing better!
