    Third day...pain.

Second day was not so good at night- I could not sleep for having dull ache in my midsection- almost like it felt when I had gallstones (I had my gallbladder taken out so it was not that). I wonder if it could've been something else?

I took a pill for the extreme pain I was in and finally drifted off to sleep. It has not returned this morning. Perhaps I should adjust my nightly dosages so as not to have this happen again...it was quite painful!

Although I wonder if it has to do with my kidneys/liver/pancreas....

it was in the center of my chest it felt underneath my ribs...and it burned and ached...I used to have stomach ulcers and this feeling was a combination of a bad ulcer and a gallstone...not sure since it went away- but has anyone else had this type of pain and what the heck could it be? I don't have health insurance so I'm not going to the doctor unless I really, REALLY have to.

I am not sure, but sounds as though you should get it checked out if it does not go away. I hope you are feeling better today.

I'm not trying to belittle this, but sometimes it's just plain gas!

        Hi evildiva;
I don't know what the pain could be either, but hopefully it won't return. I've been on the boards a while and haven't heard people mention pain as a common part of going AF, so I wouldn't necessarily link the two.

As vertigo says: there has been (muted, lol) discussion of the side effect of gas from the supps.

              Third day...pain.

I had that pain you are speaking of right after Christmas to the mid, first week in January. It was so bloody painful. Do you feel naseous? I did on and off. It seemed everytime I laid down the pain would come back. I had to sleep on my side.

I took tums and Pepcid AC and it didn't work. Once I bought some Extra Strength Pepto Bismol it was gone in a couple of days.

I figured it was indigestion. It felt like I had ulcers too. It also felt like I had torn my stomach lining.

Thankfully it went away or else I would have headed to the doctor. Buy some Pepto and see if that helps you. It coats the stomach.

If it continues go to the doctor and see if you have an ulcer.

Evildiva, I hope that it is related to all the adjustments that you are making right now, both body and mind.
Just keep up the good work.

That's funny, but I figure our poor insides are really sensitive after all that AL and we have to baby them! So even just plain old gas feels like we have been stabbed.

                      Evildiva,

Others here have very good suggestions. I would try the pepto. It can't hurt anything. Just an additional thought. You have made a huge change in what your system is exposed to, by stopping the consumption of alcohol. Our systems get used to what we put in them, even if it is bad. It may take a little time for your digestive tract to adjust to the absense of alcohol.

I experienced a prolonged period of "dietary body change" after I stopped drinking. And even though I knew that what I was doing was a great thing, I felt like crap for what seemed to be way too long. Eventually, things improved. Drink lots of water-water-water-water - glub, glub, glub! LOL! Good Luck!

I get the same type of pain. It used to happen a lot in the end stages of my regular Drinking and Smoking.

Now it only happens on occasion and usually 3 days after I have AL. weird. I haven't got it checked out yet.

It was one of the reasons to quit smoke & Drink. IT can be unbearable.

I am on day 3 as well and had the terrific pains in stomach last night and early this morning, no sleep and mind is hard to stay on track. I've put this down to withdrawal althoguh I'm no expert. I know it's not gas and it took ages to ease off. No pain today. I hope you are feeling better now. Caroll

Epigastric pain. It will go away in time if you lay off the alcohol. I saw a doc about it and there was nothing that could be done, except to stop drinking.
