I just know that this is difficult...

:new: I don't really know where to begin. I just know I don't want to feel like I need to drink every day. I'm down to 3-4 glasses of wine per day. I'm afraid to stop because I'm afraid of withdrawal stuff. I think I'll try to do 2 per day for a week then take a few days off and try to increase no drinking days from there? How do you know if you need medical support?

    Hiya Beginning,
Have you read the book "My Way Out"? It explains the program in detail and I found it really helpful in getting my plan together.
There are also daily threads for people just starting out -- check out "Newbies Nest" -- there is a great crowd in there that support one another 100%.

      Hi Beginning,

Welcome! You are in the exact place I was 1 month ago.
I too spent several weeks reducing my wine intake before taking the plunge to quit altogether. Once I was down to 3-4 glasses per day, and felt some control returning in my life, I took the leap!
I had no physical withdrawal symptoms whatsover - just emotional ones. They hurt too...........
But, that's where the MWO support, Hypnotherapy CD's, etc. really helped, a lot. I will be celebrating 30 days AF on Thursday this week and couldn't be happier

Be kind to yourself, check in here several times per day (I do) and trust that this is doable. You will soon be so happy waking up in the mornings hangover, guilt and shame free!!

Stay close, best wishes for your continued success.
      Lavande
      AF since 03/26/09
      NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

I finished the MWO book. Any thoughts on trying the program without the topomax...just the CDs and supplements and exercise? I also checked out the newbies nest and will see if any one there has ideas...
            :thanks:

              Welcome Beginning
It looks as if you have made a really good start - 'a good start half the work'!!. U have been given loads of good advice. Re doing without the Topamax, lots of people here do not use topamax or supps. It is up to the individual what he/she feels she needs.
Keep posting and tell us how u are doing.
