runningwind - I quit for 8 years, decided one day I could have that "one glass of wine" and five years later ended up worse than before I quit. Hang in there - moderation may work for some but going AF, at least for a while, will take away the chances you have a "I can have one more" moment and turn it into a "I don't drink anymore" moment.

Tried moderating a dozen times, DID not work for me. 1 always leads to another and so on. Adbstinence rocks!

                  Hi runningwind,

Moderation......a word that all people afflicted with alcoholism dream of. I'm one of them. I have tried for years and years to moderate, cut down, only drink on weekends, but it just never works. Am I thick headed ? No. It's the addiction, the voice in your head that thinks he is "The Almighty & All Powerful" and he does win everytime.

I think that when we are truly ready, and when finally enough is enough, and we accept the fact that we CANNOT moderate, that we need a good amount of abstinence, then we can sit back and take a real good look at our life and see where we are going and what road we want to go down for the rest of our lives.

Welcome to MWO :welcome: Good luck in your journey...I'm right there with you :l
