Help Needed about a few things

    Hi Everyone,
I've not been on the forum for a while had various computer issues amongst other things as I'll explain. I went mostly AF for the last 1/3 of last year apart from a drink on hliday in October. I stayed AF for Xmas and New Year. At start of January my best frined was diagnosed with Cancer and I had a binge and ended up in hospital with suspected (but not confirmed pancreatitus). For 7 weeks I have been Alcohol Free and Feel Much better. I had results of full blood panel with extended liver and pancreas test last week and all are back to normal apart from one liver enzyme was still slightly elevated the one which rises first after a drinking binge I forget whether that is ALT or AST?
My doctor said she's not worried too much as long as I don;t binge again and the enzyme continues it's return to normal.
What I am concerned about is my doctor ( who I see on Monday) has prescibed me with several drugs parcetamol ( i'm allergic to ibuprofin and aspirin) for pain relief, amytriptiline (anti depressent) and few other drugs. All these warn aginst taking when you have liver problems. I have recently noticed I can see more of my veins through the skin on my hands and I have got a varicose vein ( small) on my ankle. The doctor said this is caused my one approaching middle age and been over weight. I noticed a varicose like vein (small about 1 cm) on the side of my chest today . I have looked it up on the internet (worried about liver / pancreatic caused veins) and it doen't resemble the spider veins in any pictures.
I just wonder if anyone can answer these 4 questions to help with an anxious SUnday lol
    1) Has anyone had experiance with raised liver enzymes and how long did they take to return to normal after going AF?
    2) Has anyone had any warnings about pescription medications due to possible liver problems?
    3) Has anyone noticed veins becoming more prominent in hands by this I mean normal blue-green large veins at any time? I don;t have red palms in fact quite the opposite they are pale lol
    4) Does anyone know what alcoholic spider veins really look like. :thanks:

Sorry for asking this but my head is really spinning at the moment - with worry. I know my doctor won't know all these answers as well but I just spent 90 minutes surfing trying to find the answers and have scared myself to death convincing myself that I have contracted about 9000 different diseases in the last 24 hours.
Any kinda help would be great because...
last week my friend had the news that her cancer had moved to level 4 . Last year I would have been reaching for the bottle but I now realised that isn't going to help me or her.

Thanks Trevor (approching 2 months AF )

Help Needed about a few things

    Hi Trevor,

First of all, I'm not doctor and have no medical training . That being said, your doctor should be aware of the interactions and contraindications of the drugs they are prescribing. If you have doubts, talk to her on Monday, write down a list of your concerns if that helps.

I too am a symptom googler - it's very very scarey! I think sometimes googling can help for info on treatments of diagnosed conditions, but there is also a lot of misinformation out there.

Well done on your AF time, it will be a great help to stay AF to support your friend.

    Take Care,

    Bets.
    Proud to be SLIGHTLY SLOVENLY.:wavin:
