    End of my rope

After a whole week of being sober i let myself down yesterday by drinking vodka. I have let so many people down n i'm struggling with the guilt of it all. I'm just at the end of my rope now

Hi Shambles, and welcome. You are not alone, many of us here - me included - came here because we were at the end of our ropes. I was at rock bottom. Read and write lots here, the live chat is very welcoming as well; there are so many kind and helpful people here for you.

            Hey Shambles.

When you slip, get back up!

You don't bicycle the first time. You don't roller skate the first time. You don't Ski the first time. Stop thinking of sobriety as a "first time" thing.

When you slip, just get back up.

Why do I know this? Because I'm an expert at slipping. And I made it back up one more time than I slipped. Get it?

Fear is something AL does magnify and trust me it goes in time. It's also scary to think of living without your good ol' friend AL. Well all I can say is AL is not your friend and does nothing for you - but you probably already know this.

By the way now I'm stronger I prefer to think it's ME I let down if I drink. Yes it does affect others but the only way to change that is to make sure you make the choice not to drink.
