    wife of an alcoholic

Hi everybody hope everybody is getting better
I am here just looking for help for my husband so far its been 3 day of withdraws waiting for a bed in the hospital for detox. I am glad that he is stopping but I am scared of how much damage he has done to his liver he is only 38 years old we have been together for 24 years and married 10 years I have seen it all from up to hit bottom but stood by him due to he is a great man that is sick. Family and friends wanted me out but I stood there. Hopefully I am getting back the man that I fell in love with. Well he only did it due to he damaged his liver and is so swollen and is in pain. Please guys dont wait to it gets that far please.

The doctor cant give him anything because they need to wait for the results which is in 2 weeks.
I am giving him alot of fluids and massages dont know what else to due if you have any suggestions please tell me
    :thanks:

If you can get him to a pharmacy, I would recommend that he gets a daily vitamin B injection for at least a week.

Alternatively, a good quality vit. B complex supplement, but at least double the dose on the box.

That will help his liver immediately.

        In addition to that:

        1. You need to get milk thistle tabs - it also helps detox the liver and boost liver function.
        2. Buy L-Glutamine (l-glut) powder and give him up to 12 - 14 000mg per day in three divided doses. L-Glut helps with cravings and also detoxifies the liver. When severe cravings set in, he can put a teaspoon full of powder under his tongue.

None of the things I've mentioned can harm his iver in any way - it will all help to boost him.

I don't have any personal experience with withdrawal but I am a natural health care provider and have experience with detoxifying. I will make a few suggestions on that. Dandelion root extract helps the liver detoxify. I know everyone talks about Milk Thistle which is also very important for the liver to heal and it protects it. Dandelion IS the detoxifier. It also acts as a diuretic and is high in postassium which is probably much needed at this point for electrolyte balancing. I know in trauma cases--like overdoses and burn victims hospitals will administer glutathione intravenously. Worth an ask. If not NAC is the natural precursor that will increase the body's glutathione naturally. Glutathione in supplement form is difficult for the body to use. Grapeseed extract in large--and I mean large doses will help to mop of the waste of detoxification. Those would be a beneficial start. I hope they are available to you. Don't skimp on quality supplements. I'm sure someone with specific experience will come along. Keep the fluids up for sure. Epsom salts baths with unrefined sea salt are very good too. Use cotton blankets so he doesn't get chilled when he gets out. This is definitely the natural approach if you're open to it.

Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

Warm lemon juice as suggested in the other thread is liver specific and very helpful too.

Good suggestion Tip for putting it under the tongue. First point of absorption and enters bloodstream more quickly.

                          Jeannie,

We'd appreciate it if you could pop in and let us know how you and your hubby are doing?

Are you at least also taking care of yourself?
