    How

Very good posts! Franzia, I am 52 also. It's very possible to get clean and sober and improve our lives dramatically at this age!

(now I'm going back to being 29 forever...)

      How

Hi Happy, I wish I knew the answer to your question but I'm still struggling myself. Lo0p found success with naltroxene (The Sinclair Method) and baclofen. Both medications have helped many people become literally indifferent to alcohol. I tried TSM myself and had no luck but many have. I'm now on baclofen and keeping my fingers crossed. Explore all your options, do research, and pick a method you feel is right for you. If you exhaust that method without success, find another method, and so on. There are many avenues for help support -- nutritional supplements, medications, AA, meditation, or a combination thereof. The important thing is to have the goal and commitment to become sober.

        How

        Hi Franzia and Happy,

Hoping4Better is right. If you're not committed, then neither the NAL nor the BAC will help you as much as you think. They helped me become AF but I was just so damned sick of the self-loathing and I FINALLY said, I am committed to stopping this madness. My bubbly, outgoing personality had turned into one of a whiny, pitiful, bloated blob. And believe me...I put off quitting. Yes, yes, yes. TOMORROW....I said, after I recover from this hangover.

I said to myself, "I'll quit drinking when I recover from the sudden of my father." Nope. Then, "well, after I recover from the death of my brother." Right. Then when my mom, who is my best friend, was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, I said, "I'll quit when I'm done being sad." Well, guess what happened? My wine habit turned into a bottle of scotch and I jumped in the bottle and didn't come out for over 2 years.:upset:

And if you think Doggygirl is kidding about being 29, well, by God, she looks like it now in her sober pictures....which she posted not long ago (VA VA VOOM, DG ;-)). I'm nominating her as our MWO Calendar Girl for 2010. (:H:H)

        Franzia and Happy,

Please post and let us know how you're doing. We all care here. It's a wonderful place and it saved my life.
