Flip you are bound to feel ill today, it sounds like a very rough day yesterday. You are not drinking now, that is very good. Have you had anything to eat or even just some water? It might help as you are probably dehydrated.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

i was off the sauce for 17 days and thought that i could drink again. i planned it, did it, and made a complete ASS of myself. i hit my daughter because she took the bottle from me. she called the cops. i was in a black out and remember nothing of what happened.
i've been af again for 14 days--WHY are the days so important to count? will i be "cured" once i stop counting?!
flip, read, read, and read some more. we've all been thru your struggles and more.

All the things you describe - panic attacks et al are almost definitely caused by the alcohol. I've been in hospital through things done in drink and the only way to stop going back there is generally to not drink again.
Not easy, but a lot easier than carrying on with alchohol.
Rie longer you are sober the less you count, I know simply remember each anniversary of my stopping date. A little like your CV, at 16 your O level details are important, 18 it's A levels, mid 20s O levels don't really matter any more, 30s and your A levels are insignificant as years/decades of experience takes over.

I'm a born worrier and AL provided me with an escape, however after drinking bouts anxiety levels were even higher. The biochemical explaination is that your nerve endings are sedated under the alcohol, and over time get used to that level of operation. When you remove the AL your nervous activity loses it's blanket of sedation and goes through the roof. Creates a nasty cycle which has to be broken. Unpleasant but does get better eventually. The only way to start treating this is to remove the AL firstly, which requires a huge effort.

:lHey flip
I have learned from my AA meetings to live in the solution and not the problem. I know that it's not easy but can you not try something different this time? A diffrent route of helping yourself?xBe strong-
