Can't give you any advice, maybe ring NHS? I hope you feel better soon, it's a horrible feeling.

        Hi there John,

Unfortunately I'm much help to you but just wanted to say hello and let you know that someone will be along soon I am sure. If you want to keep yourself occupied you could read some of the posts and see if you come across any information, maybe even try the Meds section?? Sorry I can't help but hang in there

Hi John. I too just wanted to welcome you. Withdrawls can be tricky so I second the motion to call for medical help if you are feeling really bad. Can't hurt to get a doctor's input.

It is difficult to get free of AL's grip but it is really, really worth it. I'm so glad I'm not a slave to booze any more, and I hope you find your way out too.

            Hya John,

Yeah the diazes are a good idea - in detox they usually give you Librium, which is from the same family. 2mg isn't going do to that much though as it's usually a higher dose which they taper down after a few days.

If you really feel you can not handle it or you start shaking uncontrollably or more than just your hands shaking then go to hospital as withdrawals can be dangerous.

Otherwise drink lots of water and get some vitamins down you if you can - B vitamins are the best and potassium and magnesium can also help to get your body functioning properly again. None of them are miracle workers though, so I wish you the best of luck. Rest up all you can.

HI, John, I hope you are feeling a little better today. It is really important to keep fluids up when detoxing. And trying to rest as much as possible. B VItamins, magnesium, potassium can also help to calm down the nervous system. Keep posting is you are after more info as others will be along who can give you more information. All the best Saff

                              Hi John,

Here to say hi as well. I hope you're feeling better - the jitters and shakes are not fun but it does end.

I can't give medical advice but diaz is what they prescribed to me, and a big however, I had my blood pressure monitored every 2-3 hours so please watch self medicating.

You really should see a doctor. Not trying to scare you but they had to put me on blood pressure meds (and I'm talking IV stuff) because it shot through the roof even on diaz. And unfortunately, I've been through enough detox's to see quite a few others put on BP meds.

Let us know how you're doing.
