Just tried to go in but the window stayed blank and it said "please wait while we communicate with the server"..... so not sure how to get to talk. I waited a while but nothing happened.

thanks bean but panic over - don't worry not drinking or anything, just had a major crying fit as its my first aa meeting tommorrow and I have all sorts of mixed emotions over it. Feeling very overwhelmed.

Luckily I phoned my mum and let it all out to her - it was 4.30am over here so not sure she'd call back but she did - aren't mum's great. Thanks anyway

Mum's are great Kimberly. I am an adult with children of my own now....and sometimes I still just really need to talk to my mother. I hope you are feeling better this morning. Just remember-you are in control of YOUR AA meeting. As some of the others have said---if you don't like the one you go to, you can always try another. Best of luck honey:l.

Cool, glad to hear you are ok. I don't go to AA but have been to some meetings in the past and remember feeling pretty overwhelmed too. Hope it goes/went ok. Let us know...

And good on you for reaching out to your Mum. Anyone who will call you back at 4.30am really loves you!!

K - sorry I was fast asleep because we're in different parts of the world. Just wanted to say hello though, and let you know that I am here for you now if you need to chat. Of course, you're probably asleep too.

Also, I went to one AA meeting, and it wasn't bad at all. Don't worry, they will make you feel comfortable.

thanks guys - I appreciate all your kind words and reassurance. I'm off to the meeting in a couple of hours and have butterflies in my tummy. Luckily the AA helpline have arranged for someone local to meet me. She phoned me this morning and she will go in with me. That is some comfort at least.

It's funny because I have been to a few AA meetings before but I was only doing it as lip service and I never felt as nervous as I do now. This time I'm taking it seriously and I intend to participate rather than just to sneak in the back and then slip out at the end. i am now thinking of it as a good place of support, which is never how I used to think of it. Wow, what a change. I will be letting you all know how it went.
