    Too broke for help

So Hi everyone...first time poster, AWESOME site with al lot of awesome people.

So my story is nothing new. I'm a relapsed Beer drinker Up to 2 sixers a day. including upon waking which recently lost me my job and I have no other income at the moment, all the money I have left has to go to rent for as long as possible. (All the $300 I have)
Unfortunately my issue has me in bad withdrawls so I've been tapering off which is helping a little.
I can't afford to go to the Dr's nor can I afford to go to detox and lose my home. so I've got to get back to work clean.
I have two librium left from my last attempt to detox...It worked so well I've held on to these with my life
Does anyone think a free clinic would be willing to prescribe it to me again?

    :thanks:

Hi there Too - I am not sure - the only thing you can do is try and see what happens. Tell them your situation and hope that you get a sympathetic soul? Check out the Tool box here for other ways to cope with it and keep posting - others might have some better ideas for you. I wish you all the best though - it is really hard and you are in a tough spot.

        Hugs to you, Sun XX

If you are honest with them about your condition and desire to get help== a clinic or ER will help you in the US-- but you cannot dance around it-- you must tell them that it is dire-- that your health and job hangs in the balance and you have nowhere esle to go-- since they have taken the hippocratic (sp) oath-- they cannot turn you away and let you be in harms way ethically. If you have been having 12 beers a day and that is all maybe your withdrawl will not be quite as bad as some-- though of course it all depends on how big you are and your body chemistry etc. Good luck!

Thank you for that. I just hope the free clinic will even consider a prescription and not insist I go to an ER if they can't do that themselves. All the other 'urgent care' clinics won't see you without a $100 down...ludacris (sp?)

Tell them you have nowhere else to go, that the situation needs attention now as you feel it might be dangerous as it is. All that is pretty much true. Hopefully they will at least give you enough medication to get you through the roughest period (the first 5 days or so I think). I would think that even if you went to an ER that unless they felt you needed to be admitted for medical detox that the ER woudl only give you a small amount of meds to help-- the way our healthcare system is in this country they are probably trying to shift cases from the ER to primary care docs since the ERs are so overloaded with those who have no healthcare--I hope that the clinic will not make you jump through hoops-- the reason you would seek either place is that you have no insurance and nowhere else to go-- if you just lay it out there like that I hope that they will get you on your way. Let us know how it goes

Cope, there are places to help. Take Trucker up on his offer, he's got a lot of knowledge about that and he's proof this can be done. We're all here to help, so PM me or someone who's posts have inspired you. And keep posting here!! :welcome:
