    New and need support

Beachbump;1090622 wrote: Hi everybody chatting on this thread - AL did made me put on weight as well - BUT - now on day 23 still ...I HAVE THE MUNCHIES. I'm actually a salty person but crave for sweet things - all the time. For lunch this afternoon Ihad a choc-mint mousse with icecream - and just now I made me a sandwich with cream cheese and THICK fig jam!! Putting on more weight now! Will it pass?
I too was always more of a "salty snacks" girl when i was drinking. When I first quit drinking, I followed the diet advice in the My Way Out book, which is basically low carb. That worked really well. Then last summer, I made the mistake of letting sugar into my life and OH MY what a mistake that has been!

I am realizing now that Alcohol was the ultimate sugar. I was getting enough sugar for 10 people when I was drinking. I had a sweet tooth (sugar addiction) the whole time and just didn't know it. Part of my withdrawl from AL included withdrawl from sugar - without me even knowing it.

Oh how I wish I had just stayed off the sugar! Now I am working on it again and I hope for the last time.

There is a good reason those diet suggestions are in the MWO book...

      Dear Amethyst,
I am on day four and know that as much exercise as I can do, coupled with 8 glasses of water, has been so helpful. Stay close to the website, as it is extremely supportive.

Am-- We could be twins with your story! The weight gain at first for me was from pregnancy-- I gained way too much but I have to admit-- I lost 50 pounds of it quickly and was going toward a healthy weight-- then as you mentioned-- the stress started-- hubby got hurt playing hockey when our baby was like 6 weeks old and then began to go out of town all the time with work-- that lead to a spiral of drinking after baby went to sleep that continued for years (he willl now be 6 in May!) I too isolated and still somewhat continue to isolate myself-- had some un alcohol related health issues and anxiety issues--it is so hard-- I know though from being here that you can do it. There is a thread in the fitness section where folks talk about how much they lost JUST from giving up booze-- I found it so inspiring and perhaps you would as well. Good luck!
