Pin, needles, and burning all over!!!
Has anyone else experienced a pins and needles sensation that has a burning quality within the first 24-72 post being AF? It has happened to me now about 3 times when trying to quit. It used to just affect my hands and feet, now it is everwhere. Used to not associate it with alcohol because it comes on gradually and starts out as an itching sensation, so i take benedryl, a little later this intense feeling starts, i was thinking it was the dye in benedryl. Because I can't sleep (I have been up since 7am yesterday and it is now 5pm today with no major relief insight) i of course vowed never ever to take benedryl again, so what else is left? Remembering back to the beginning...it was the same feeling, maybe not as strong and certainly not as intense, localized only to my hands and feet, and I had problems sleeping even then but nothing like this. Any similar experiences or answers would be soooooo helpful. I've had my blood sugar checked and i'm good on that front so no diabetic neuropathy.Tags: None

Pin, needles, and burning all over!!!
I am not an expert on this topic, but I would just try to see a physician as soon as possible, and tell them whats going on. Its not common to have these symptoms and it sounds like you really need a doctor, who can prescribe something for you, given these odd symptoms. Its really great you are trying to quit, you will find the tools and special informational postings along with the people here really helpful. But get thee to emergency if you have good health care where you are.

Pin, needles, and burning all over!!!
I had all kinds of weird things like that happen. After a while, they almost completely stopped (I am almost 9 months AF) - I found taking a calcium supp before bed helped me. It calmed me down and the tingling lessened. Sending healing thoughts your way. Your body is doing its damndest to get rid of the toxins.

Oh yeah! I know exactly what you're going through. I'm winding down my third day AF and am still on pins and needles all over. If you search for symptoms of withdrawal I think you'll find that it's a common symptom of mild-moderate withdrawal. What I found worse was the anxiety and being so jittery I couldn't sit still even when I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. All of those feelings are winding down and I'm feeling better every moment. Stick with it, it's worth it!
