    GRRRRRRRRRRR.......

Tip, when did you stop drinking, during or after reading the book? I'm in the middle of it, and I'm beginning to think it would work for people who didn't have a secondary disorder - DG, is that what you call it? A dual disorder diagnosis? I wonder ... I have the Jason Vale and Allen Carr books and am halfway through the first so far. Here's hoping! I'll use any crutch I can. He makes lots of valid points.

I have been wanting to stop drinking for some time now but I didn't really know how to go about it. I have spent several weeks doing internet research and lurking around here. I read Allen carrs book and it really didn't do it for me. Then I discovered Kick the Drink...easily by Jason Vale and decided to order a copy. I completed the book a week ago and I have not had a drink since. Not only that I don't really have much of a strong desire for one either. When I do get a little twinge, I think of certain things in the book. If you follow his instructions, it will work for you as well. What is really refreshing is that at the beginning he states that there is no such thing as an alcoholic ! Having made that statement he goes on to prove is conclusively. He blows every argument and every excuse for having a drink. I hope it works for you as it is working for me. Remember what he says at the end though, it will only work once so don't rely on having a relapse then reading the book again. Good luck.

Bruun, I would say never discount anything that might help. A dual disorder just means you have two things to work on. Drinking makes both problems worse - so anything that helps reduce the drinking is all good IMO! I think one of the worst things we can do is somehow believe we CAN'T. That for some reason, something WON'T work. That thinking sets us up for failure. Thinking positive - postiive affirmations - positive self worth - belief that we can succeed - that helps both sides of it.
