Lapin-- if you have not done so jump to the meds forum-- topoamax, naltexone etc. They may know someone to help. If not there is a doctor in the states Dr Levin who they speak of often-- he has done phone consults with many folks and done a script- not sure if he could do it for a foreign country. There is also the option of ordering it without a prescription and getting it sent to you. You would have to really research how to dose but there is a ton of info on that forum where people have gone that route. Good luck

Lapin - Baclofen is not approved by pharmac therefore not available in NZ. If you want to go down that route you will need to order it off shore.

Naltrexone is available here on prescription, and lots of gps are also prescribing Champix for addiction although it is only "officially" approved for giving up smoking.

Best of luck and feel free to PM me if you need to :welcome: and :l

hi Miss Behaving. Yes, not sure where you got that info from, as Susie is being legally prescribed it under her GP, at no cost, so I guess approved by Pharmac.
She's doing well!..would be great to be able to offer the opportunity to more kiwis.

Lapin: hope to hear from you. I am here to support you in any way I can.

Oh that is interesting!! I was told by both my GP and the alcohol Counsellor that I go to that Pharmac had not approved it, and that Naltrexone (or Champix) was the only available possibility.

I wonder whether there are differences in DHBs?? (I'm in Wellington) Might do some searching!

Sorry Lapin if I put you wrong.

                Hi all

I've PM'd Susiesmum, but if she is no longer around, would really appreciate a contact for a doctor in NZ to prescribe baclofen, please.

                Thanks
                Sticky :thanks:

                  Hi Sticky...and Neva and all,

I have pm'd you with the doctor's details. All the best and here to help in any way.

I pop in and out here briefly. Miss seeing what's going on, but thrilled at all the continuing successes.
