I'm really doing ok. The doctor's office finally called and said the promised prescriptions would be called in first thing tomorrow morning. Which throws my planned schedules off, but the nurse said he was doing some research on my plan, and she apologized. I'd already decided I was going to quit obsessing. So I'll just have to adjust my schedule by a couple of days. I can live with. I feel much more at peace.

Hi HG -
How are you doing today? Did the Antabuse prescription get filled? I'm thinking of you!

Aha! I have the prescriptions in my hot little hands. The dr. prescribed everything exactly as I'd proposed. I had half a fifth last night and will have the half tonight. Tomorrow after work I will take a valium and an antabuse the next morning. The directions for the valium say to take 1pill every 6hours. Does this mean over 24hours or just during the day? I'm so excited! Maybe now I can do things in the evenings instead of staying at home drinking :-)

Hi HG -
You only need to take the valium "as needed", in other words, you shouldn't wake up to take it. I would take it around 1pm and then again at 7pm...it will probably make you sleepy. Then start your Antabuse (AB) the next morning. Do you know what dosage you will be taking? I took 500mg every day for 7 days, and now I stay at 250mg per day. I'm so glad you got the meds, they really DO make it easier. I'll be anxious to hear how AB works for you...I am a long-time fan of it!

p.s. You can stay on the valium while you are taking AB....just wanted to throw that in there.:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

When I did my home de-tox. I was prescribed 2 x 5mg pills to be taken every 4/5 hours.
I would take them 8am, 12 noon, 4pm and then take a 5mg around 8pm and another 5mg at 10pm making a total of 40mgs for the first couple of days.
I was as groggy as all hell the first couple of days but once the tapering down starts you'll not recognize yourself.
And you know what the best thing to do in the evenings for now is just to hang out on MWO.
Shout out if I can help in anyway. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Hi HG-
Are you starting your AB today? Let us know how it goes. It can be frightening and exciting at the same time. Just remember to pay attention to things that may potentially have alcohol in them. Personally, I have NO side effects or reactions to anything, except alcohol of course! Let me know how you are!

You sound ready to me! I'm excited for you, this can be the beginning of something great! Spend the next 2 days being kind to yourself, relax and get plenty to eat and drink (non AL of course...lol). Maybe throw in some chips, cookies and ice cream if you want...heck, you deserve it! I haven't had any reactions on AB to any products, nail polish remover, face creams, lotions, toners, etc...but be aware at the beginning because some people are super sensitive. You'll do great...keep us posted!
