Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Hi Sausage - well done! It is good to hear from you and hear you are doing well!
When you have finished your cards, you can come and do mine :H I have bought them, but thats it so far - have to get down to it - I write a Christmas letter to all my family and friends back home to catch them up on all our doings and the girls growing up - but I have to get buckled down and write it! Sherry was my poison when wrapping - and the only time I drank sherry!
Hope you had a good day out Janice??“The only courage you will ever need is the courage to live the life you want"

Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Hi everyone...Sausage so good to see you back, you're always missed!!
Great day yesterday although it was soooo cold!!! Had a lovely couple of hours in Westminster Abbey, a wander round London seeing the lovely Christmas lights and met up with my hubby for a curry in Leicester Square which warmed us both up!!! Now, as he was ordering his beer..I was very tempted (and dont ask me why!) to order a non-alcoholic beer but at the last minute I changed my mind & went for my sparkling water. I dont know, I'm so scared that even "pretending" to drink alcohol will mess my mind up and have me wanting more and eventually wanting the real stuff. Not going to chance it.
Sausage, I too am anxious abt Christmas. Up to now alcohol has been a major part of the whole Christmassy atmosphere but this year is going to be totally different for us all isnt it? I think I'm going to be having a few long walks over the Christmas period lol!!
Any suggestions for what we can have instead???? I mean, I love my sparkling water & diet coke but I think I need a more exciting drink for the holidays...any suggestions????
Off to read your latest instalment Sausage.

Body is getting used to Wellabutrin, cravings coming back
Ive been on the Wellabutrin for 2 weeks tomorrow, and Ive been able to go 2 even 3 days without smoking or drinking.. But on the 3rd or 4th day, i weaken and cave. I didnt drink or smoke on Sunday or Monday. Tuesday while putting up Xmas decorations with the kids, i became immensely frustrated and opened that 1.5 bottle of wine and drank all but 2 glasses it, plus i had a couple cigarettes, I cant really do one without the other.. I still dont have the anxiety , thankful the Wellabutrin is keeping that at bay.... Well last night we had Basketball practice, i hadnt made anything for dinner, drove thru mcdonalds drive thru for kids.... Came home, finished last 2 glasses of wine and then remembered little pony bottles of Chardonnay, in the cooler on the deck from Saturday! ( i thought i had drank them) much to my delight, there they were. Drank them down.. Considered sneaking out to the garage in search of DH.. Bourbon or Brandy, but i had to get the kids to bed..We read and fell asleep together, but i still regret the drinking, because I know if I had had more, it would be gone, and I would have woke up this morning, not remembering, and my kids would say i was crazy,, I DONT WANT THAT ANYMORE I was able to sneak a couple cigarettes while they were in the basement playing with their dad.. So, here I am today, and already thinking about tonight.. Im out of wine, and Im going to keep it that way at least for today..

Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Good morning, everyone!
Just back to MWO after a couple of months. Usually post on the monthly abs thread, but have been reading all the posts on this thread from the beginning, and I want to tell you how much I admire all of you! It is one of the reasons I decided to come back. Janet, reading your story from the beginning is truly inspiring and gives me a lot of hope. I am no on day eight--did over six months starting about a year agoe when I as in rehab. "Slipped" last summer and have been in and out, with 22 days my longest AF time. Had two DUIs before rehab, after a perfect driving record and a life that looked fine on the outside. I think holding the shame of those DUIs and not driving and trying to get my license back--helped keep me in the hell I as living. I am now truly taking it one day at a time and focusing on the good things I have.
Will post more later, and hope it's okay to come here each day!

Hi everyone & a special hello to Whitemarshmom & ThreeDogNight!!
Janet's right, its good to be able to come on here & be honest when you've drank but whats more important now is that you get REALLY honest with yourself.
You CAN achieve sobriety, you can have it today, you can have it tomorrow...the choice is yours!! Thats what it comes down to and it was only when I read Jason Vale's book "Kick the Drink" that I realised it was down to me.
I would definitely recommend you read it as it totally changed my thinking about drinking. He made me realise that I was not missing out on anything by stopping, whereas before, during AF periods I would always feel deprived, as if I was missing out, struggling to get through each day "one day at a time". There are some posts abt this book in the "books we are reading" board.
The other thing that did it for me was the Rain in my Heart docs at the top of the General Discussion Board - they were my "lightbulb moment".....I did not want to end up like that and thats where I was heading. Again, if you havent seen them..would DEFINITELY recommend you do.
Would also recommend you post & read regularly (yes, we'd love you to post here!!). Even if its just a quickie..."hi, I'm here, hello everyone" really helps especially when you're just getting started. Read the Longterm Abstainers Board - look out for Abouttimetoo's posts and DoggyGirl & Sausage's stories on "Tell us your story" - so inspiring!!!!
Janet & Sausage are probably having a little chuckle as I recommend Jason Vale once again lol!!!! I should have shares in his book sales!!! Me & Jase are like this...:l !!
Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend....I'm doing a Christmas Dinner on Sunday as my mum-in-law & son's girlfriend will both be away for Christmas so we are going to celebrate with them early!!! Tree isnt up yet (next week) but I've been putting up a few bits n pieces, have had a bit of Michael Buble on & I'm starting to feel Christmassy....and not a glass of Baileys in sight!!! Yes it IS possible!!!!
Will check back later xxAF since 9 May 2012

Checking in quickly before getting ready to head to my job at the flower shop. Just ahalf day today, then a few errands.
Janice, good luck with the turkey! It usually takes a few days to defrost,so not sure how you'll do it. We had a fresh turkey for Thanksgiving this year, so it was easy. Can you naybe put it in a bath of cool water? I hope it works out.
A little light snow here this a.m., but tomorrow it will hit 50F and then all the way up to 55 or more through Tuesday! Love it! I am not a big fan of cold:H
Have been up since 5:45, as I love to get up early and check emails, FB, do a little ork on a project I am finishing up, etc.
I hope everyone has a great AF day!

Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Hello Everyone and Welcome ThreeDogNight (cute name and doggie pic : )
Been really busy today running errands and watched a really good movie called Flight with Denzel Washington. Have you guys seen the preview for this movie, it's really good. It's about a pilot who finally comes to terms with his alcoholism, wow it was pretty powerful. There were a couple of scenes in the movie where I totally identified with, yikes.....eeeeeek....especially the part about feeling "free" now that he quit drinking.
Anywho, it's late and I need to get myself up early to finish up my errands before the next storm comes through in the afternoon. I AM LOVING THIS RAIN, wow what a nice break from that fricken heat...yikes that was nuts. It's been cloudy and dark, wow looking forward to doing a 8 mile run tomorrow. Sausage, yes I do prefer running in the cold, however there are times I do like running in the heat but need to be really prep for that.
Oh Janice, forgot to mentioned that I just purchased my Nutri Bullet (check it out NutriBullet.com) and will start juicing as soon as it arrives : )
Okay, sorry gotta get some zzzzz's....will check back in tomorrow afternoon.
Lots of hugs,
Janet

Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Morning ThreeDogNight, Janet & all who stop by today...freezing cold morning here but its beautiful, love these type of mornings. Well, the turkey has behaved itself & has defrosted nicely so I'm just going to go & get him ready for the oven!! Table is layed, crackers are out & I'm starting to feel Christmassy!!
Last night everyone had an alcoholic drink and I poured my mum-in-law a baileys...which was really tough as I wld normally be joining her. She suggested I join her..."one little one wont hurt" she said with a sad look on her face but I stuck to my guns and had my diet coke. I shall be having a J20 with my meal today with meal. I posted a thread on the Long term abstainers board to see if any of the longtermers had any tips/advice from their previous AF Christmas experiences but not much of a response up to now.
Anyway know its a busy time of the year for everyone but hope everyone is doing okay. I feel sort of vulnerable at the moment so as you can see from above posts...I'm staying close to MWO. Will check back in laterxxAF since 9 May 2012

Hi everyone
Janice I'm so relieved to hear your turkey has defrosted properly, you got me really worried yesterday. I'm paranoid about un-defrosted, raw chickens / turkeys etc. I also remember those commercials they put on around Xmas time telling you to defrost your turkey properly!! Let us know how your "Christmas" goes. Are you unwrapping any early prezzies? Well done on avoiding the Baileys last night - that must have been tough. Will check out your other thread.
Hi to everyone else, still struggling with this cold, laryngitis etc, had it nearly a week. Certainly don't feel like running Janet! And it's so cold and icy up here too.
Back later xx

Anyone Up For 30 Day AF
Good morning, Janice, Janet, Sausage and everyone else!
Janice, like Sausage, I am very happy that the turkey turned out okay. I was worried.
It is hard when others are able to drink around us and even encourage "one little one." They will never understand that we can't have JUST one! For quite awhile last year I wasn't bothered by others drinking around me, although it happened rarely. Most of our friends drink, but not alcoholically. My drinking was hidden for so long that I was more of a closet drinker. I did find that having a non-alcoholic drink, such as cranberry juice and sprakling water with lime, was good. Plan for that again when I am in social situations.
Janet, I admire your stamina with the running. One thing I need to get back into is exercise. I try to walk a couple miles a day, but not when it's cold out. but used to do step aerobics and Zumba regularly. I am 59 yrs old, but a "young" 59, if you know what I mean, and as able to outdo the younger women in the classes. Once I get my license back (please God!) I ill have more flexibilty with going to the gym.
We got snow yesterday and it as the coldest day since last February, but going up toward 50F today, and staying like that for a few days, so I'll be happy! Hope your storms aren't too bad, Janet--here on the East coast we keep hearing about all the storms on your coast.
Sausage, you sound good. Haven't seen you on the monthly Abs thread recently, so look for you here.
Today we have church at 10:00, then not much else, which is fine with me. Have a project I am working on for my part time job and want to wrap it up today.
Janet, we had three dogs until almost a month ago, when we had to have one of ours euthanized. He had cancer and it was very hard for us, especially my husband. We have to others--both rescues--and one is 15 1/2 and one is about 10 1/2. I love your avatar with the pic of your little one!
Okay--wishing you all a great AF day!

Hello Everyone,
Janice, glad to hear your turkey dinner was a success, looking forward to reading about it. A big "high five" of congrats to you for staying strong during the holidays. It's kind of a good thing that I am alone during the holiday's because I feel it might be a "trigger" for me to be around people drinking. However, this is an "issue" that I will definitely have to re-learn again on how to socialize during events where there might be "social" drinking. I always admired that one person in the group who just never drank and now that person will one day be me, but for now it's "baby steps" in my AF recovery : )
Sausage, hope you are feeling better. I too, will check out the thread. ThreeDogNight, dogs are great...aren't they. I just got my doggie SweetPea a new indoor doggie house and she loves it!! As soon as I set it up, she just walked in, curled up into a little ball and fell asleep......LOL isnt' that just precious. I plan to find a cute Santa hat for her and take a few pics to add to my avatar. I can't imagine how difficult it would be if I lost my SweetPea. When she is gone for a few hours at the Groomers, my place feels so empty....I feel so empty : (
Hi Scottish and Ishybit...how are things in your neck of the woods. SL, you must have really experienced ALOT of rainfall in your area. I am just loving the rain and cold, however because the rainfall was so "off/on", I didn't get a chance to go running. I should have at least workout on my elliptical but I must confess...I was lazy...LOL.
I am GREAT!!!!!! I didn't get a chance to workout this weekend but will start back up again tomorrow, the weather will be clearing up and it will definitely be perfect running weather. I was able to get alot of personal errands done and that will help me in getting ready for the week. I was excited to finally get this juicer (Nutribullet) but had realized that I had put the wrong city and zip code and it was too late, the item was sent out. Which means it will probably be returned and a replacement will be sent out...darn it!!!! Oh well...what can you do....eventually I will get it....can't wait to start juicing again.
Anywho, wishing all you "lovely's" a wonderful week and will check back in during the week.
OMG, Here is another classic fav Christmas movie IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE...it was on last night and I still love watching that movie.
Hugs,
Janet
