Hi everyone and welcome Nelz!! Yes, come & join us!! Congratulations on your one year + of sobriety!!! There's a few of us on here just in the early days (again!) and we wld more than welcome your input and hear why you need new motivation??

Gorgeous morning here (at last!) and it is so lovely waking up knowing I've had a great night's sleep & I can get my arse in gear straight away instead of trying to motivate myself to get out of my dressing gown at lunchtime!! Sleeping well is one of the main benefits I'm getting being AF .....gone are those nights waking up in a hot sweat, feeling as if my heart was going to jump out of my chest & then the panic attacks when everything seems so much worse in the middle of the night.

Going to get some more gardening done while the sun's shining. Will check back later. Have a grt AF weekend.....xx

I really wish I knew why I have the sudden desire to "moderate". But, after reading story after story about how that usually ends....I am fighting with all my might.

Comming back here, and reading the success stories and encouragement is easing the problem

Oh Nelz! I gave up 6 years of sobriety to moderate and be sensible about booze....it ended in disaster. Ultimately it is your choice but I fear you will regret that first sip. I posted about my experience and Mr G put it somewhere because it got such a good response. It may help - search my posts....I don't know where it got put...

Good luck my legend - I'm holding you close .....

                Hugs, Nicey.

I meant to say that you are probably contemplating the idea because you feel strong, in control, confident, brave - all the feelings you took back when you gave up the poison. The positive things you enjoy now WILL be lost if grog takes hold again. And, in my experience it will, faster than you can imagine.

                  Wishing you strength and courage!

Yes, and that is indeed my fear......because I dont usually do anything "half ass" Id probably start up drinking again with a vengeance.

As always your words always manage to bring a smile to my face.....Ill give you just 30 minutes to stop it! LOL

Stats show that once an addiction is resumed it consumes us three fold. I'd never have the energy these days to doit any harder than I did.....it would kill me for sure!!!!

The only times in my life I got myself into deep trouble is when I've gone against my gut, my true instincts. I took that first sip after SIX years of freedom even though my true instinct was to run as fast as I possible could.

You may be able to moderate but people like us, who ended up here because of our warped relationship with booze, usually can't.

YOU were my rock last year Nelzie - YOU got me through....

                        Good morning everyone,
Nelz, I'm glad you posted. I've lurked around long enough to get to know you and I'd like to say thank you for all your help! I read on another thread, i think it was pingu? Who posted. I believe she has the same amount of af time as you and she seemed to be having the same thoughts and feelings that you are experiencing. I wonder if you are in need of a new addiction? Something healthy, creative, productive,or soulful, being of service to others etc... I'm not saying I know what it is but something new that gives that endorphin kick we are all addicted to. Hmmm just thinking out loud this morning.
I hope everyone has a great day, I'm off on a field trip with a bunch of third graders, ALL day. I'm tired already.

Your doing so well!! Just try and stay strong. But at the end of the day its your choice and you have to do what you think is best for yourself. You dont have to do anything anyone tells you!

On a personal note, im off alcohal 18 days now and i dont think ive ever been as happy!!!Theres so much more to life then just getting hammered and being depressed and tired the next day and needing a drink to peek you up a bit. Im learning so much and am getting fitter everyday!!
But as i said, its tottally your choice what you want to do and what ever you do amy, there will be plenty of support here.
Checkin in to see how everyone is doing and to say congrats to all of you who have continued to stay AF. For the record. I didnt have that one last AL blowout before starting my Baclofen. Im on day 2 and feeling great. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!
:wings:Every day is another day to set things right!! Make today a new beginning, the first day of the rest of your life!:wings:

                                Nicelife,
I feel sorry that you come back to this addiction after 6 years AF and now in trouble.I wish you will get you back to sobriety soon. You are aware withe the words that it must be started asap,so give you strength not to forget it.Men get trouble because they have a trick of proscastination,Animal don't have so they live without fear and pain.
Anyway,I am really inspired by your experience of relapsing after a long period of time.
                                Great sharing!
Please be back on your AF wagon without any relapse.
