How are you doing, Kdog? If it's any consolation, I am in the same boat, though several hours behind you. I feel so miserable-shakey, nauseous, pretty much beside myself. I have been through this SO many times and always manage to backslide after an AF period. Don't do it! You're doing so well and in a few hours, you'll feel like a new person! I hope I make it, too!

hello all, and thank you so much for your posts to me! I can't seem to make it past the 23 hour, I know that sounds stupid, but then I want to go to bed and I frankly panic... so I have a few, I took a librium yesterday, ugh, all I wanted to do was cry today for no reason. and I only took 1. I did go to a graduation party today where there was plenty of al
and said NO TY. Made it through that ok, came home and planted some flowers. Now I am trying to fill out unemployment papers and its depressing me, never have been on it in my life. I worked as a supervisor at a company for 15 years and our positions were all eliminalted last week! Shock, walk in and good by charlie. Sorry for ranting, but so far so good today, I will check in later, thanks again,
      Kdog
Crazy stay strong, I know we can do this, I want to enjoy my summer work and al free!!!!

Thanks, Kdog. I am hoping to go to bed soon, awfully early but I need to get some rest.

The thing that is so confusing is, is it better to have a couple of drinks and taper down, so as to avoid Real Problems, or to just cut it out completely and get it out of your system as fast as possible?

Today I have had two drinks. For me, that is awesome. Now if I can just NOT get up in the night for a few more! That's my danger time, and it sets me up for a bad next day.

You are doing just great. I know it's hard but as many have said, try to focus on the positives and be grateful for dealing with this problem, as opposed to feeling deprived! Gonna go snuggle one of my three cats! Let us know how you are tomorrow.

crazy, I wish I knew the answer to that question my self, My doc prescribed me librium and said I could just go with out al by taking 3 a day, but after yesterday not sure I want to go that route, but he did tell me I could take them and taper down, 5,4,3 etc, so who
knows what the answer is. I think we should be ok after a few day a free, its just a scary thought getting there!:l

            Hey Crazyforwine & Kdog,

Congrats on fighting through this and trust me I have been fighting this for a very long, long, long time and will always be fighting this til death do me part. I do strongly advise that if you can, its best you TRY to work on not drinking at all, removing all alcohol from the house. Kdog, I know it's hard that you are unemployed but hey maybe it can be a good thing too because it will give you time to work on getting better. If you can afford it, by all means PLEASE take advantage of the time you have off and work on achieving some AF days. Then when you're health is alot better, you will be ready to find a job and who knows maybe it would be a better job.

Anywho, I just wanted to let you know that you guys are doing great and I look forward to reading your progress.

            Hugs,
            Janet

Stay the course. A few hours of shakes is a small price to pay for the freedom you are getting from AL. Be sure to have some treats around, pop a piece of candy or a cookie...this will help and as all the others have said, keep hydrated. Don't go backwards by having a couple drinks to take off the rough edges....you gotta go thru it to get to it! I had flu-like symptoms the first 36 hours...so don't be suprised if you think you are getting sick and will put this off to another time...AL will make you think anything to get back in! You will be filling out those papers with a clear head. Good luck to you and I'm so sorry....but you are in good company here, and we can get you thru this! Byrdie

You can do this Kdog. The longer that you remain af, the better it gets. Take it ODAAT or even OHAAT or OMAAT if you have to.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.
