    Just getting ready using Kudzu

    Hello all,

Just getting ready to stop drinking, AGAIN! I've been a alcohiloc for 30 years and tried AA, councelling etc.

I recently found out about kudzu root and have been taking over the counter kudzu pills bought at a health food store, not working out all that well.

In my research I have seen that these pills have a relitively low amount of diadzein in them, the main ingredient in kudzu.

Does anyone know if pure kudzu powder or pure kudzu cubes would work better?

Thank you and have a great day,

    Medic

      Hi Medic,

I followed the MWO Supplement Program (minus the Topriamate) outlined in the book that included Kudzu and have been sober ever since. The book emphasized to be sure to take it between meals according to the following schedule: 150mg mid morning, 150mg after lunch, and 150mg after dinner. However, the author posted the following addendum on this website under FAQs:

Kudzu: We have increased our original recommendation to higher levels: 1,000 mg. to 3,000 mg. depending on craving and program customization.

I'm not sure how many people here follow the book/program anymore, but you can do a search for "kudzu" and read about some of the experiences in older threads. The consensus seemed to be that the brand that MWO sells is superior. The brand the book recommends is Solaray Kudzu Root Extract.

Have you tried L-Glutamine? I always felt that helped me a bit more with cravings, but it could have been the combo. Here's an article about L-Glut for Al cravings and the amounts you can take.

I do feel strongly that following the recommended supplement program really helped to get me through the first few crucial months while I worked simultaneously on changing my mindset. I'm honestly not sure I could have made it through that period on my willpower alone. In fact, I still use the recommended All One Powder and feel a remarkable difference in my energy and mood when I stop.

Hope this helps, and best wishes for much success.

I definitely recommend using MWO's brand of kudzu. I believe that the quality is superior.

I also agree with SV that using L-Glutamine is also very helpful.

        Best wishes for your success.
