    i'm a mess

Struggles...amazingly, it only takes a couple of good AF days to make your outlook brighter. I know it doesn't seem like it, but you are doing GREAT! It is HARD! But it is also worth it. Stay busy, just as you are doing...when you have a mind-circle, BREAK it and name off your cousins or recite The Pledge of Allegience. Just make your mind go another direction. This worked for me. We are all pulling for you, remember, all you gotta do, is get thru THIS day! Byrdie

          i'm a mess

I made day one! Now I'm making a light dinner. I still feel shaky, but much better. Work was busy so that helped and I am looking forward to day 2 with a much clearer head. I will take a bath before bed and start on the Jason Vale book again. I still need to get some laundry done. This will be the first halloween I have ever taken my kids out sober! I did run to the store today, but only bought caffeine free soda. They didn't have any seltzer so I will be on my way tomorrow to do a little light shopping. I still have all those cans to return ;(

          Thank you all again :thanks:

Hi Sruggles, good for you! Fantastic that you are trick or treating sober. I've been taking trazadone to help me sleep, too. It's an antidepressant that has turned into a sleep aid, b/c of its side effects. It's not dangerous/addictive like ambien and it does help me sleep. Congrats on your progress, you're doing great!

                      i'm a mess

Ok, survived Hurricane Sandy, but lost power for 5 days. Well actually, only one room in my house had four outlets that had power and my furnace still ran???? Apparently whoever wired my home did not do it properly and now I have to have the breaker box redone. I cooked by candlelight, my kids took showers by candlelight and flashlights, but we were able to eat and stay warm and shower. I had extension cords all over the place and saved everything in my fridge and outside freezer However, I drank yesterday, but quit before finishing the whole damn lot and tonight i have had a few, not many, but enough for me to realize i have to stop NOW. Back down the drain it goes. I have a dr. appt to follow up on my hysterectomy, my sister's husband is in the hospital with congestive failure, she's a mess and will be spending a few days with me..that will keep me from drinking again. I know I can do this. My body looks like I have the measles. Anyone with any advice on this and what it is and how to get rid of it? Doesn't itch, just ugly red splotches.

Thank you all again, I'm sorry to leave you hanging. Now there is a noreaster heading our way to stir up more damage. Thank goodness I am in upstate NY and we should be okay.

                        Hi Struggles,

I'm so glad you have your sister there with you. Isn't it nice how just, and I know these are not good circumstances, but any change of circumstances, can help shift a routine. Prayers for your sister, her husband and you and your little ones. My friend had odd splotches on her skin after a period of stress. Her Dr. told her it was stress related. She called them her "spots". I hope it is only that and nothing more serious. Good luck struggles. Best, Raven
