No apologies 199 your fantastic & I love you too! :h :l )Your one of my hero's here friend! Sorry I misinterpreted your words!

I had some bad cravings last week & this weekend. Then the fecking mind games started, but I've been thru this shite b4 & know what to do. I also know they pass, so rode them out. Wasn't easy, but know it's worth staying sober!!!.... There are more good days than bad ones. When the bad ones, or hard times come, I can deal with a much clearer head now. I make better choices & it's reflected in my behavior. I don't wake up with all that guilt, remorse, self loathing, physical illness... I have a clear conscious & it's really great!... I laugh so much more to.

Glad I was a little help to you. You've also been helpful to me & am sure others. )

Happy to see you have your AlcoHell avatar back. Helps to remind me how scary drinking really is & where just one drink will lead. I think I told you, I walked out of the theater back in the day, couldn't sit thru the whole movie. Bitched my BF out at the time. Here in the states they had nurses as some folks puked.... Anyway, I'm used to your avatar & am using it as aversion therapy tool to stay sober.

I love your cool ~ simple & empowering words of wisdom & hope. Stick around friend as I need you!.... I love that you feel good being sober!!!... ) I do to most the time... ) Being drunk sucks!!!!... It's poison.... Horrible ~ awful ethanol. No way to live!!!.... I do still once in a while want to escape life via poison, but know this is just old shite thinking & time takes time. Did I tell you I'm almost 8 months sober friend. Someday you will be congratulating me on my one year af anniversary. Time is flying by to fast.

          Take good care 199 )

                Day 389.

Why thank you Damo, glad it helps someone.

Cruising along at the present time, drink thoughts are being smashed and laughed at, long may it continue spent a long time at a party gathering last Saturday , usual gathering of tipsy sentimental people who think they are funny lol. Find alcoHELL situations a little boring now to tell you the truth, they are ok for a couple of hours then its just the same old bs being repeated over and over, cannot believe I wasted so much of my life in this environment and ??? Went to gym Friday night at 9pm, I thought it was going to be empty, but actually there was few peeps in there, so not everyone out getting wasted, treadmill 9pm Friday night loved it !

                Be sober, be cool.

I hear you on the drunken parties. Now of course I'm my husband's designated driver, which I'm happy to do. But really the parties are an embarrassment and a bore. And I used to think that was fun! :hitme:

                    399 days today ! 2oo days ago I joined this forum !

In cruise control at the present time, this sober life s getting better, raw real emotions are so new, so exciting ! Think I am a different person , well it feels like I am changing. Lost just over 2 stone now yay without really making much change to my food intake ,But I do run more etc.
Was out last Saturday night at a bar/club type thing for a friends birthday, I had a great time and felt super cool cause I was sober, really beginning to like socialising being sober , hard at first but much much easier the more you practice.

Sober is rebellious , sober is cool.

Day 406.. Not good, real bad cravings thoughts, quite intense in fact.
Going out with my 2 brothers and some friends tonight, meeting in pub for a couple of hours and then for a curry, this has brought these feelings on. I have to go out, I mean I have to be social don't I ? Normally ok with it and no doubt will be when I get there, it's just the cold weather/ warm pub thing has started me romanticising the drink... I know where the drink leads, it's never a drink its hangovers obsession and hiding drink that awaits if I go back, thoughts of me going back and being in control are entering my head. Today is bad. I know I am cool sober,I damn well know its a win win situation me being sober, but still getting these thoughts swings FFs. S O S

416 days. Rough patch over, I can't back to the boring repetitive crap that is drink alcoHELL. Hope you peeps do not mind me ranting to myself on this thread ? Been hammering the treadmill at the gym , went late Friday night recently, this time it was empty , loved the desolate feeling in there thinking about things etc. sober really is frigging cool . Laters.

I'm sorry that I missed your last post! Sorry that you were looking for help and no one answered. But the good news is that you made it through. You've got so much time under your belt now that I guess you have a lot of good things to reflect back on and a lot of positive changes in your life. It must have made it a bit easier to stay the course. Congrats on the weight loss and your fit lifestyle. :goodjob:

Day 444. Went to a restaurant for a 50th today, quite a difficult time, cant believe at nearly 15 months I am still fighting cravings and drink thoughts. But the day is over and i am sober , think I am having romantic drink thoughts and am not playing the tape through to the end. Cravings eased as I watched people transform in front of my eyes and turn into BullShit talking twats. Home and glad I am sober, but think I need to work harder at this, I just cannot go back to it...day 1 ugg don't think I would ever get back in quit mode, for a long Long time if ever, scary.

I can't decide if it is any worse than any of the other things I have DECIDED not to do, because I am mature and responsible.

I was just talking to a client who rides and I had a moment of sadness because I will not or cannot afford the risk of a riding injury. I am self employed and the cost of income protection is horrendous. But IF I was prepared to take that risk.....then it is completely up to me.....the consequences are mine to suffer.

We can drink if we want to, we are not in jail, but we do what many responsible adults do every day, we exercise our choice not to. The fact that the consequences for us are severe does not change the decision of that moment.

Till the day I die I will miss horseriding, I may decide to risk it one day, I may decide to risk drinking alcohol one day..........just not today, I am not prepared to risk the consequences.
