Lucky to be alive
I have consumed so much alcohol over Christmas and new year that it is a wonder. I have lost days, just drinking and today I am supposed to back work. I haven't drank today. Thinking about the way I have been drinking I feel lucky to be alive. I really want to go back to work and be 'normal' but I can barely type for shaking. Yesterday I actually drank a bottle of gin and about two bottles of wine. How on earth am I still here?

Broken, sorry to hear you had a major slip up. Lord knows we all seem to have been there! Try drinking some water with fresh lemon. I drank a lot of gator aid the first few days to rehydrate myself. Good luck, I hope you get your life back on track.

Hi, Broken.
How are you doing? I drank a lot, but cannot imagine drinking a whole bottle of gin--plus two bottles of wine? With that kind of heavy drinking, I'm very afraid of withdrawals for you. Please check in. Did you make it to work?
It's a new year and a great time to get AF. I am hoping that this is what will happen for you.

Hi Broken, I hope you are checking in, and that you made out ok at work. I definitely know the morning crappy hung over feeling and hoping that in an hour hoping you will feel Miraculously better even with all that you drank, defy it all. Course that doesn't happen. But you do get another chance and it is called today. Or tomorrow. We get another chance. I would say don't have that much AL in the house. Get support, post, please, we care about you.

Thanks everyone. i did make it to work, albeit three hours late with the crappy 'my car won't start' excuse. I had the shakes, really bad and I know a few people picked up on that.
I feel better for having going in though and trying to be normal. Very tired tonight and stayed late at work on purpose so that I couldn't buy any drink on the way home. To be honest though, I knew there was a half bottle of wine in the house. I haven't touched it, so far. But I know its enough to get rid of the jitters and help me sleep. I am going to sit down tomorrow and really think about what I need to do. Thanks everyone.Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it! ~ Goethe

I find that taking my supps, drinking a ton of fricken water just helps me manage...tea and coco are also musts...ice cream works well too.

Lucky to be alive
Hi everyone. Thank your for your tips and for your genuine concern. I am doing a lot better. I did drink the wine and slept all night, next day I felt so much better. I have bought the vitamins and the milk thistle and haven't had a drink since the wine. I have come to the conclusion that I need professional help...counselling maybe. My drinking got out out f hand after the death of my sister and I have never really faced up to that as well as other family issues.
I have decided that now is the time to deal with my issues instead of trying to obliterate things with alcohol.
Thank you all again, just wanted to let you know I am still here and not as much of a wreck as I was when I typed that original post. :hWhatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it! ~ Goethe

Hi broken halo,
Counseling sounds like a good start; if you are burying your emotions then it will be very difficult to keep a quit going. The supplements are a big help too - you need to replenish what your body has lost through drinking. The kudzu and l-glutamine are great for cravings too.
Keep posting and reading, it really does help. Good luck!AF since 6JUN2012

The obliteration doesn't help, just makes things worse. Wise decision to deal with it..One day at a time.. Sometimes it's one minute or one second at a time.. Most important thing is to look ahead and don't look back!
