    First day

I will try to make this my first day free from wine, that's the only drink of choice.I was so close last night, then suddenly I had a reason to drink. I drank 3 glasses of wine. Just because a client closed his account with my husband. I live in Israel and I am alone alot with my husband working abroad. Too many lonely nights. I have to quit for my health. Next week is Passover, how do I get through the four glasses?
I really need some support. The messages I have read so far are so reassuring, I want to conquer this!::new:

Well, support is our middle name around here.....

We have either been in your shoes, or are wearing you shoes. We have all had the same questions as to "how to stop"

The answer is strength, support, knowledge, and supplements. There is no one size fits all, but somewhere in there, lies a combination that can help you conquer AL and all of its ill effects.

It CAN be done, and it WILL be worth it

You should ask advice about the religious observations......what if you were on antibiotics and not supposed to drink.

Do you think you may be looking for little excuses to put off stopping?

        Anyway :welcome: to MWO

:welcome: eiti!! Good for you coming here and looking for help. This is where I got my start on the road to recovery and I have never regretted stopping drinking.

For me, there is absolutely no situation in which I would drink alcohol. Not for a religious ceremony, not for a wedding toast, nothing. As others have stated, there are many medical reasons why a person might not drink alcohol under any circumstances - my own medical reason (my body cannot handle alcohol!) is only one of them.

Just the other day I was with a group of women who I met at an event and I will probably never see again. There was no reason to get into the deeper reasons I do not drink, and would not have "one drink" with them. So I just said "I'm on medication.." and that was that.

          Good luck to you!

Being lonely is not easy; I know it too. You have to be hard-headed about this. There will ALWAYS be reasons to drink. If you are up for it, you can do it. Stay close to the boards and read everything. Inching my way towards another attempt myself....

                Welcome Eiti!

If you were allergic to peanuts, there's no way you would look for an excuse to eat them, be it a religious ceremony, celebration or any other reason. I consider myself allergic to alcohol, I just can't have it. Join us over in the Newbies Nest...you'll find we're quite an encouraging bunch!

                  etie--

I wouldn't worry about drinking four glasses of wine at a Seder. I never do because I would be asleep on the floor before the Haggadah was finished! No one ever seems to notice or care.

                  Happy Pesach to you!

I meet alot of people who simply don't drink. They never really had a problem with booze....they just simply did not like the way it made them feel. "No Thanks"....works every time.
