hi again
i've been binge drinking for about two weeks. was a member of this website some years ago.stopped drinking in 2010 for about a year. i was drinking wine everynight starting in 2006 or maybe earlier than that. after my year of not drinking. not being able to handle life stresses and triggers i started back of and on. would stay sober for months then relapse. want to stop drinking but as soon as anxiety hits me i start up again. my last drink was at about 5pm yesterday. i am considering going to a detox center. back in october my son called around and got me a bed at the closest detox center in my area. stayed for three days, was sober up until may and know i'm binge drinking. very tired of this cycle. my anxiety is extremely bad. think i had a nervous breakdown in 2007, and started self medicating, now i'm doing this again. i know i'm all over the place. just want to stop. hope i'm posting in the right place. Thank youTags: None

hi again
Hi breezy and welcome back, though sorry about the circumstances that brought you back here. You've obviously been able to get this under control before and will know that the anxiety is just hell when you're drinking, but that seems the only way to get rid of it at the time. The detox sounds excellent, but in the meantime, what about speaking with your doctor re medications for your anxiety?
Also, as you'll know lots of reading and posting here will help heaps to get you through any rough patches - the Newbies Nest and the Tool Box are always the popular spots to visit - guaranteed to get something useful every time
There'll be lots more advice and help forthcoming from others, so welcome back and settle in :welcome:

Breezy, get rid of the wine....you do not need a safely net because you are not going to fail. By the end of the day, that bottle will grow heads and start to speak to you....
I know what you are saying....because I said the same thing (You don't know what this is really like), but believe me I do. Get rid of all the AL in your house. You will be fine, stay on the site and read all you can for strength and inspiration. Keep your belly full...stay busy!
One drink just leads to another the only way to stop drinking is to stop drinking. But you will never stop if you've got that bottle around! If we were heroin addicts, you wouldn't recommend they have a night's worth of dope lined up just in case, right? This is the same. You will be fine without it!! If what you've tried hasn't worked, try a new way! Don't repeat the same mistake time after time.....break the cycle! You can do it! Byrdie

hi again
Breezy you said that three days in detox gave you six months AF? What did they do for you in detox? I think you can get through three days at home but you need support. Stay online, talk and read. Could your son come by maybe and spend some time with you?Newbies Nest
