    Panic attack

Sorry to hear you struggle, d.knick. I don't experience panic attacks, but I do get anxiety sometimes. The only thing I could tell you to do is to try to slow down your breathing - maybe breathe into a paper bag?

I would sit down somewhere safe and just try to concentrate on breathing.
Well it's all right now. I've learned my lesson well. You see you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself.

hey,you may need to taper down with beer for a couple of days, sounds like al withdrawal, just drink enough to keep symptoms at bay, dont get drunk or youll be back to where you are now, theres a thread on here somewhere, ill try to find it and bump it

There's no shame here. We have ALL been there. Just take care and use booze like medicine - Take it only when you absolutely need to and get off as soon as you can. Do some research on here about how to taper safely. There's plenty of info here. Do lots of reading.

                    Panic attack

I agree that it sounds like alcohol withdrawal. Definitely taper or go and get medical advice on detoxing. I hope it passes soon.

                      Panic attack

D.KB, I also suffer from panic attacks. While I agree with educating yourself on tapering off of the drinks, I would also suggest trying NOT to drink during a panic attack. Whenever I drink to try to squash an attack, I end up drinking way too much and (sometimes) making the symptoms worse. Instead of drinking, try to go into a confined area and sit quietly and deep breathe. And cry! I know it's difficult to breathe during a panic attack but if you can get tears to flow sometimes that helps. I usually go into my walk-in closet (no joke) and sit on the floor and just concentrate on breathing and crying. It takes some time to calm down but it does help. I also have asthma so sometimes taking a puff of my inhaler helps me to slow down. I'm so sorry you are going through this, I know how it feels like the end of the world.

Much love and strength to you. :l

                            Panic attack

                            DKB,
Welcome to MWO, hope you are feeling better! I too felt like that my first day AF, it was awful!
I bought a lot of gator aid to rehydrate, and took vitamins and B12, that seemed to help. Stick around, and see your doctor if things get worse. Tapering never worked for me, I'd just end up drunk all over again! But for some people it works. Keep us posted and good luck!

                              Panic attack

I too suffer from panic attacks at times so I totally empathize with you. Hope they are all gone. I have to take medication at times. And yes the first few days of going AF are the hardest. After that it gets easier and easier with time.
