Please, simple questions about alcohol detox dosage and avoiding addiction

You mentioned earlier in the thread that your detox was very quick, over in 8 or 9 days... did you feel trouble from withdrawal from either substance after, or lingering health/anxiety problems?
Crikey, you're really making me think for Monday morning........no worries though, it'll do me good.

I've got to admit it was my most brutal de-tox ever, the first 3 days passed in a blur of sleeping, sweating and water...........but by 5 days in I was feeling well.............not fantastic but well. And the big bonus........ I'd lost a load of weight.

Nope no trouble with withdrawal after the taper down either with diazapam or alcohol.

I do however live with depression which initially disappeared for about a year and a half. Now I'm back on the anti-depressants for the foreseeable future but I have an excellent GP who I've been with for over 28 years so I'm guided by her.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Yes, I have had similar experiences. Unfortunately, the doc put me BACK ON after three days without. It seems my body totally craps out, even if I feel fine mentally. I've had the odd bout of depression and anxiety in the last week or so, but it usually goes away after a few hours. I suppose this is normal, coming up to 7 weeks off alcohol so I'm trying not to let it affect me so much.

Anyway, I don't know what to make of this. As I mentioned in the OP (or did I?) I have ectopic beats, and they are made more frequent and such when I am stressed or anxious. I was feeling fine on the first day, but the second night they kept waking me up. I went to hospital and checked, and it seems that my body doesn't like being off it.

The doctor suggested I go back onto 1.5mg, and taper off that in 0.5mg doses for a week each instead of three days, to prevent my body going haywire, my BP and HR going up, and to prevent major anxiety.

I find this to be a bit contradicting, I tried to get off them as quickly as possible, and it seems as if 1mg is virtually nothing after being on 20mg for a week, then cutting down to 5, etc.

I sort of took his advice, and for the last three days I've had 1mg a night to get to sleep.

My concern is, since I stopped them completely at 6 weeks, could this be a sign of physical dependance? I felt no noticible withdrawal in the 3 days I was off them, except for the palpitations and impossible to get to sleep without struggling to breathe and waking myself up in a near panic when I could feel my heart dropping out. My dosage the week prior to those days was 1.75, 2, 1.75, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 1, STOP. Would it be sensible to try and sleep, and just take 1mg if I can't? I have no problem with tolerance, as it seems as I go lower and lower, they have no noticible effect and I don't have to take any more the next night. But This is the third day on them again and I am concerned.

Any more advice would be appreciated

Hi all, just an update. Had the flu, then sinusitis, then bronchitis (still going!) and a middle ear viral infection (labyrinthitis). Also, blood pressure is through the roof possibly due to stress. Have had a lot of anxiety over my health, and 15 days from taking the last 1mg I took 2mg tablet for a panic attack. Have not taken since. Will this cause rebound anxiety/symptoms? Will it "reset" any withdrawal I had?
