    Too -
Pop on over to the Newbies Nest in Just Starting Out Forum. Ton's of help there. I think everyone is getting used to the brand new site/format. I binge myself and need to quit it as well. Determined to be more diligent. I get a lot of inspiration and guidance by reading all the posts. When I start getting the urge I try and log on and ear. It has a calming and logical effect. Key is to break that binge cycle - not easy but once I get rested, exercise it makes it a lot easier. hang in there.

Well, I used to have the link to the Newbie's Nest in my signature line but it doesn't seem to be showing up just yet. TC, how long since your last drink? Byrdie

TC hello and welcome. How long had you not been drinking for if i may ask? As byrd said head over the the newbies nest if you can, there is a wealth of support and lots of people on different stages in recovery. get rid of all al in your house and hang tight. You can do this, its so hard, yes but doable. Your post and others is a reason why i know i can never touch al again. It destroys everything we hold dear to us. Just for today dont drink. Dont overwhelm yourself, eat and sleep and read and post. Be accountable to yourself on here. This is my AA, this is my support network and it is working. I used to spend hours on here, still do sometimes. I figured i spent enough hours planning my drinking and drinking that being on here for hours kept my mind occupied.

PC how about pitching whatever you have in the house? That's a start. Drink plenty of water and keep talking.

OK so a quick update: i am heavy, heavy drinker with a long history of rehabs/hospitals/detoxes/jails. I made a rookie mistake. Got home from a detox (yeah it's already there) and had leftover liquor at my apartment. So now I'm drinking, literally 15 minutes after I JUST GOT OUT OF AN ALCOHOL DETOX!!!! This disease blows my mind. I don't know if I should drop out of college....i can't really imagine going being drunk all the time.

....who is sober and an alcoholic. Think of all of the stuff you take for granted. Your family, friends, job/school, happiness. Now go throw it the fucking trash can. That is exactly what you're doing if you decide to drink again. I don't care if it takes a minute or a year, we all get back to square one. I'm my square one was permament, perpetual hell. Have fun going back to that

Too Curious, are you still drinking? Get the booze out of your house right now. Don't start tomorrow, start right now. Then do something physical. Go out for a walk, go to the gym, clean your house, something to get moving and distract yourself from craving. I am here if you want to talk.

Too Curious- It sounds like you may be pretty young but already accepting a defeatist attitude. It appears you already know what awaits you if you keep drinking (we all know that here), so what are YOU going to do? Returning from a detox is a great time for a new start. Have you figured out WHY you drink yet? (there may be multiple reasons, but it does help to acknowledge the source of your conflict so you can start finding other ways to deal with it).. Whatever is going on in your life, the booze will only make it worse…stick around and let us know so the folks here can help you with some great advice and support...…best wishes

Tomorrow is day 4 for me Birdie, you can do this. Go to bed now. Sleep it off and go easy on yourself. It is twice as hard if you are hard on yourself.

It's twice as because it's hard liquor! So i made the dumbest mistake ever. I finnally decided to go to the ER for help with detox and meds. THey prescribed me 15 2mg Ativan when I left so I coould continue the detox at home. So I got home and realized that there was alcohol everywhere. Then I almost died. When I got to the second ER (a different one lol) the police drove me because I guess I was acting completely crazy. I took 10 of the 15 pills (20 mg of ativan!!!) and my B.A.C. was .33. Every doctor in that place said I'ts a godsend that I'm alive because as one er doctor said "you just put enough ativan in ur body to kill a horse, not too mention all of the alcoholl. So, being the hopeless alcohol that I am, i drank RIGHT when I got home AGAIN. THis is looking bleak guys. I'm thinking im gonna have to drop out of college....ive already missed a ton. My last hope is the baclofen that just arrived. I don't know if I should wait til alcohol is cleared of my system. Sorry for the rant but any advice would mean the world mywayout has been amazing!! Thank you all soooo much!!

I'm glad you think a second emergency room visit and nearly dying is lol funny. You need to be in an inpatient rehab. Baclofen is not going to be your savior. You clearly need to learn what sober behavior is in a controlled inpatient setting. Otherwise, frankly, you are going to be dead really soon.
In the middle of my life's journey, I found myself in a dark wood, as I had lost the straight path. It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased
