yet another relapse
Trying to quit alcohol. Got meds but still "feel the need" for beer. This is now day 1 again. Drank more...had hardcore DT's and meds didn't help but beer has. How do I get off of this shit when the only thing saving my life is also killing me? Please help.Tags: None

Hi 30/30. Wow, you have been struggling a long time. It really is time for you to get medical help. The symptoms you describe require IMMEDIATE medical attention. You are at a point that you can no longer delay seeking help outside of your own attempts to be free from alcohol. PLEASE seek medical attention NOW -call 911 or go to the emergency room. You are worth saving, and when you become free from alcohol, you will be amazed at your NEW life.
EDIT: And 30/30 -your next post should occur only after you have been treated by medical professionals. Please let us know how it turns out. Thanks. SWLast edited by spiritwolf333; October 15, 2014, 12:33 PM.

Yes TF, for sure you are in the more serious of stages. At a minimum, you should be re-hydrating, taking vitamins (incl Thiamine, B-complex, Niacin), resting (not driving) and eating well. Very possibly you may need medical assistance to help with the withdrawal. Take care of yourself…what you are going through is deadly serious…whether you go to the drug store, your doctor or the ER, don’t just sit here and “ride it out”. Let us know how you are working through it when you can…
Thiamine:
The most important supplement to take is a B-complex vitamin. Virtually all sources on the subject will tell you that B Complex vitamins have been shown to be consistently effective at relieving the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. Niacin (vitamin B3) can be especially effective in larger doses.
Other supplements including vitamin C, selenium, magnesium and zinc have also been known to be effective in larger doses. Have them all available if you can, and experiment to see which ones work best for you.

I'm in Cook, NE and alone...won't risk driving for the possibility of hurting myself or anyone else. i have the meds on hand. Lost my job. My mother is busy at work and can't risk her losing her job over me. I also don't have the money to go to an emergency room or an inpatient facilty.

Yes, you should NOT drive..DTs and driving is deadly to you and others. You should call your mom or someone anyway...it is too hard to do it alone..someone needs to watch you, get you suppplements, or get you to the hospital if needed (they will take you regardless, worry about the money later)“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness”- Desmond Tutu

Yes, the ER is not free, and is more expensive than an Urgent Care Center if that is an option. If you don't have insurance (sounds like that is the case?) they willl work out billing options for those in serious health issues (which this sounds like it is)“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness”- Desmond Tutu

Hi there TF
Found the number for Bryan Independence Center...................Call (402) 481-1111.......
Also an Alcoholics Anonymous number which will be able to put you in touch with a member.........(877) 266-3632.
Though in all honesty, the best thing you can do at the moment is dial 911......It could be worse, I could be filing.
