        Congratulations on getting through the weekend AF!! :goodjob:
        Weekends can be very tough for so many of us...extra triggers...more opportunities to drink...and the desire to have a drink. I know in my own case that this is the time I really have to keep my guard up and to also re-establish my commitment to sobriety.

        I'm glad I could be of some help to you....
        I know that many find my approach & advice too harsh, but IMO, candy-coating the issues is really not going to help anybody. Sure it's nice & comforting to get hugs & well-wishes...we all need that....but we also need to face ourselves & this addiction head-on...that's where the real recovery begins.
        I say this from my own experience. In my early months of sobriety when I looked for a shoulder to lean on.... I usually could find one, but then it turned quickly into a swift kick in the ass & I was told to snap out of it & quit feeling sorry for myself lol
        I would then get a stern lecture (to my horror...since all I wanted was a shoulder to cry on) of how this addiction must be battled, and that "emotions aren't facts". Gawd, how I hated that person at times for how callous they seemed to be when it came to helping me. Can you imagine sitting there & crying, telling someone how you feel & they come back to you and say "fuck your feelings...feelings aren't facts". I thought they were the cruelest person on earth.
        But you know what??
        Now that I look back.... all those things that they said to me are the things that have made me stay strong & determined. Those words & advice are what I keep going back to, time & time again...that is what laid the foundation for my sobriety....solid & able to withstand whatever comes it's way.
        I also see now how much that person cared..and still cares. It's not easy giving advice like that, you always take the chance that the other person will not take it with the intent that it was given... and they will walk away forever..... that's a very tough thing to come to grips with when you're dealing with someone that you care very much for...it ends up being an extremely selfless act>>> you care so much for them that you are willing to take the risk of losing them, in order for them to recover & have a better life for themselves, even if that means without you.

        And so that's what I do... because that is the only thing I have seen that has truly made a difference in my quit...giving advice "straight from the hip".
        I may get reprimanded by others at times for doing this... but this is the only way I know how to be. Someone told me a great little quote that I tend to live by these days:
        "It's none of my business what other people think of me".
        Think about that for a little bit & you will see how liberating that frame of mind can actually be!

        So, between being such a hard-ass & some loony tune that likes to fling men with her trebuchet....
