:new: Good Morning everyone and thought I would fit in with this group because that is what I believe in for me...total abstiannce. I have started this journey many many years ago and went through periods of long sobriety but I don't think down deep I could admit to myself or accept that I was a alcoholic and could never drink again. This was my life and that is how I lived my life for years. I've had 30 year plus or minus history with alcholism. the longest I went af was 4 and a half years. I did that buy alot of meetings, going to a counselor and groups for recovery. But after awhile I thought I could do this on my own...my way. Still stubborn with that one. My whole family practically has a problem with alcohol but chooses to deny they have a problem or just pretend they don't . But that is their choice to make not mine. Right now I have about 4 and a half months...my quit date is Feb. 6,2009. I quit smoking also because of chronic allergy and sinus infections...that date is March 23. I had to look these up on the callendar...I'm going to start taking this a bit more serious. I know how cravings can creep back in my life and take control and just make my life a living mess. I was more of a binger....drinking for two days at a time without sleep and going to the casino and spending everything we had. Funny when I stopped the drinking that stopped too!
I can relate to the struggles with AA and trying to find a place that works. That is what I'm currently doing now. I found one that I really like but I need more than one meeting a week....so while I'm searching this will be really helpful to me and I hope I can offer some advice and encouragement. I kind of live out so if I had this formum and some AA meetings I think that could work for me.
Looking forward to getting to all of you on this forum and I hope everyone has a great day

      Sunnydaz,

      :welcome: again.

I, too, use AA and MWO. However, I have not been able to "get" long term AF times under my belt and I seriously welcome having you here. (I still fight with the, I just can't drink, feelings. I am getting there, though.)

MWO has things to offer that AA doesn't and visa versa.

I think you will find great sources of wisdom and comfort here.

We have several long termers that post in this forum and I am sure they will be glad to converse with you and share.
