On not counting AF days and moving on

Keep counting, it reminds you everyday why you have to do this. I stopped counting and stopped caring. After 3 years, I fell back in the bottle. Support each other, congratulate each other..on every bloody single day away from this poison. The second you forget, you'll be there with a glass in your hand.....

I haven't been able to post much in the last week or two, but the e-notification of this post caught my eye.

I'm sorry to read that you fell off the wagon. I will take your words of caution to heart. I am about to celebrate 2 years sober, and there is NO WAY I want to get complacent and end up back where I came from.

The man I refer to as my Step Coach in AA knows EXACTLY how many days he has been continuously sober. And it's over 12,000. He mentioned the exact number today. He has a calendar and puts an X on it every day. He's gone through over 30 years worth of calendars but still does it.

Makes me think I should figure out my days again and start keeping closer track of things.

On not counting AF days and moving on

Hi -- I'm new to posting here (haven't been here for a few years-2007, yikes, that long). I've been using the tracker, but I too forget and then spend all this time plugging in numbers just to see all that yellow with zero's, but as I'm filling it out I see .5 drinks -- I'm thinking who the heck ever drinks a 1/2 a drink?? Then it seems like I almost have a choice and I KNOW I don't. I have no off button after the first.

Anyway, good to meet you. Enjoyed your post, (guess I should probably let that tracker go) and the thread.

For those of you who like to keep count: I keep a sobriety calculator on aahistory.com which I check every now & then. I too agree that complacency is my enemy. When I think I have the problem licked, I am vulnerable to relapse. For me, that would mean emotional, physical, & spiritual death...& I'm not exaggerating. Mary
