3 November.
That reminds me of one of the songs from Rent, one of my favorite musicals. (OK, I have to love musicals, don't I?) The song is being sung by people with AIDS and a very uncertain future -- and sometimes a lot of shame from their past. They are trying to deal with how to live today in spite of what tomorrow might bring. Here's how a little of the song goes...
There is no future
There is no past
There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret or
Life is yours to miss
No other road no other way
No day but today
I can't control
My destiny
I trust my soul
My only goal
Will I lose my dignity
Will someone care
Will I wake tomorrow
From this nightmare
Is just to be
Without You
The hand gropes
The ear hears
The pulse beats
Life goes on
But I'm gone
There's only now
There's only here
Give in to love
Or live in fear
No other path
No other way
No day but today
No day but today!
Sure makes you want to get of your rear end and start living, doesn't it? You're right, Brig, it's not something we could do very well (or at all) while drinking. We were too busy chasing the bottle. And we were so concerned with drowning our emotions that we couldn't deal with them. I'm just now beginning to realize what they feel like again...
I can see why they posted that at your gym. It's a great motivator!"Few things are impossible to diligence and skill. Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance." -- Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784)
