    wow, never thought i'd ever pose here.

    Hi everyone,
    I'm looking for a place to fit in. I've realised i had a drinking problem about 5 years ago and i took my family to hell and back almost every night for 3 and 1/2 of those years.
    ANYWAY i've been sober for 1 1/2 years (ish) and it's no longer a battle. I don't drink or think about drink anymore. It took a lot to get here but i'm here and staying! Like i said before, i'm really looking for a place to fit in and to become friends with people in my boat!

    Congratulations lil.michelle, that is great.
    I think you would fit in nicely helping out the newbies and on any of the threads, really. I think there are many people who are in the same postition, but some people drift away when their goals are complete.
    Those of you that stay around to help out, those of us who are still struggling are one of the great things about this site.
    Hope to see you posting.

        lil.michelle - congratulations on your awesome progress! Have you ever checked out the AF Daily threads (new one each day) in the Monthly Abstinence Section? There is also an awesome weekly thread as well. There are a lot of people with several years of sobriety who post on those threads, as well as new people who are serious about getting sober. Many of the longer timers are working on all kinds of growth opportunities in life now that we are past the daily need for AL.

        For whatever reason, more longer timers post in the monthly Abs section than in the Long Term Abs section, as far as regular daily interaction goes.

        Keep looking - you will find a place where you fit in!

          The monthly forum seems more social where as on here people seem to dig deep and do the hard work of looking at ourselves.
          I am blessed with love joy and sobriety.

            I think making friends, and fitting in is relatively easy around here. Ive made what I consider to be some good friends on here, mostly just by posting in whatever post I think I might be able to contribute in.

            I just check the Today's Post link under Quick Links every time I sit down to the puter, and see what I can comment on!

            Grats on your long term sobriety, as Ive said a bazillion times before, I know it wasnt easy, but it sure is worth it. I agree with others, that you could be a real inspiration to members that are just starting out the journey.
