Behan, it seems to me that people can figure out for themselves that there are other threads within this website and many other websites for support in controlling drinking without abstaining. It would be inappropriate if we were posting abstinence messages in threads or on websites aimed at moderation, but that's not what's going on. Most people who post on abstinence-oriented threads have figured out for themselves that that's what they need and are looking for the encouragement to make it happen. This isn't a cult out to lure unsuspecting drinkers in - it's a place to freely get support if you want it.

We're going to have to break the "law" this time, Rox, and continue our discussion .

my point
There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups. However there is also a widely- recognized codicil that any intentional triggering of Godwin's Law in order to invoke its thread-ending effects will be unsuccessful.
"As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one."
and so it goes on

Behan is obviously an escapee from a mental institution.
Behan joined MWO 6 months after I did. I chose to stop drinking & improve my life.
Time for the administration to give this one the boot.AF since 03/26/09
NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

Dude if you are going to correct someone's spelling for God's sake at least proof your own posts. One mistake after another. BTW ... (that's by the way BTW) what's your point. Aside from the criticism and venom I missed the part where you make a coherent argument why you're right and we are wrong.
As you can tell by my Avatar I'm a fan of Irish poets, and buddy after reading your posts let me tell you, you're no Behan although he did drink himself to death. Ill leave you with an appropriate Behan quote my drunken friend: "Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves."Last edited by TJAF; July 3, 2015, 09:46 PM.Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.

If you are looking for original words how about everything I wrote before the quote.
As for your principle thought, leave me out of your premise about quoting smarter people, save that for yourself. I guess you're not quick enough to appreciate the sarcasm.
Now before you start typing another wasted post, how about something positive or, are you too much like your nom de plum...one of the quare folk.Last edited by TJAF; July 4, 2015, 09:08 AM.Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.
