The thing that has taken me by surprise in this bloody battle is that even after a few months it didn't provide a quick fix, really should have had more sense than to expect one if I am honest! After nine months I am not thin and rich and probably never will be, but I do believe accepting there will be no more booze in my life will help me achieve a slimmer me and that my finances will recover eventually.

Spidey, I just read your post about grief in MR's thread and I'd like to thank you again for that and encourage everyone here to hop over and read it.

I've been away from home for 2 days at the site of 2 previous trips since January. I'm happy to report that traveling without AL gets easier every time. Now I'm heading for a 3-day conference essentially by myself (as in people I know) in a swank hotel. I'm so glad that bad dude isn't going to be my roomie :H!

NoSug.....one of my first business trips at a swanky hotel, I finally got to my room after multiple delays...I sat on the bed to catch my breath and there sat 2 half bottles of wine, one white and one red. I thought "Holy Shite" THIS is all I needed to see! My first thought was "I don't really like red, but it'll do", and then my second thought was "hum, this isn't enough to do the job, I'll need to get more". That's when it hit me....NONE for me. I put the laundry bag over the bottles so it would look stupid and I slid them behind the tv....it worked. I didn't want to hide them in a drawer because I was afraid housekeeping would charge me for them!!!!

Hey, this hotel I'm in is way too fancy for a rogue like AL! I am so so grateful that I did not invite him and he did not somehow worm his way in! There were no bottles of wine waiting for me, Byrdie - just dolled up water bottles that probably will cost about 10 bucks if I so much as touch them so I'm keeping my distance...

3June...we are SO HAPPY to see you here! There wasn't a doubt in my mind you'd make it! When I finally hit that milestone...I really felt like I had made it....I was out of the really rough water!
