Umm. I am speechless on several levels:

We have been handed our cartoon arses on a plate! :H Sunbeam, that was very cool!!! I watched all those shows, like Nelz on a b/w tv. My dad got us the Alliance Tenna-Roter that would automatically rotate the tv antenna OUTSIDE to get the very best fuzzy picture possible!

Unless Cuzin Lav won with her lottery numbers, looks like Mick wins since he isn't OUT any money. Humph. So much for being rich....back to cleaning my toilets, I guess.

We had one of those antenna rotators too... I honestly thought we were wealthy (not!) when my Dad installed that...state of the art!

I loved the Wacky Races cartoon.. all the characters and their 'wacky' cars. Thanks for the memories Sunbeam.

Thank gawd when cable finally came around, crystal clear picture and NO messing with the pesky antenna anymore. I remember as a kid when we first got HBO it wasnt on 24 hours a day.

I cant even justify paying for cable service anymore, Im more content sitting in front of my lappy Post "Dooring" .................:H

Hey long time FABBers...popping in to say hey and just reminding all my cousins here that I've been meaning to write for awhile! Really I have. Ya'll just keep entering those powerballs , ya' hear?

I've been getting a chuckle out of the Bullwinkle references. So...I can remember watching Rocky and Bullwinkle sitting about 12 inches away from the TV with my box of Cap'n Crunch. Was that the beginning of my sugar addiction? I always like the Mr. Peabody segment. Maybe because I was born a nerd (and am proud of it, now!)

Back in the day...maybe 30 years or so ago, I had a chance to spend about a half-hour with the gal who did the voice of Rocky and Natasha. She was just delightful. So I just googled around....and amazingly enough she is still alive! At least as of last September. She turned 95! When I met her, I thought she was already really ancient. LOL! Youth! Squirrel! Moose! Boris!

I like it here. I think it's a nice place for us long-timers. I do hope we'll see more folks soon as there are a bunch coming up on their triple digit days. And a think we've got more coming up on yearly anniversaries soon....imagine the GREAT celebrations we'll have with all that powerball dough!

p.s. you don't have to be one of our cousins to 'set a spell here'!

Cable? Hey, I remember getting our first color TV. I just loved those NBC peacock feathers.

                  Nelz...youse a BABEEE!

SunB I am there with you on that color TeeVee. We were living in Iowa and I remember my folks being excited that the RCA was delivered in time to watch the "Special" broadcast of the Wizard of Oz. It came on and my mom was just beside herself.

"Sam! Sam! SAM!!!! Something's wrong with the TeeVee!" she yelled.

Um....well....we didn't know that the very first segment of the movie was meant to be black and white. By the time my Dad got the back of the TV off to look for loose TUBES....the house landed on the witch and we were treated to the amazingly colorful world of OZ.....or was it ....aws....or awes?

Not to date myself more....but when I first came to Alaska to live as an adult in the early 80s....the TV stations were still flying up the nightly national news from stations in Seattle for late night broadcast (if SEATAC wasn't fogged in!)

I was nine before we had a TV! Even then it was rented, weekly, from a company called 'radio rentals'....so that tells you how long ago THAT was......they started by renting out RADIOS! :H:H:H. I mean how poor did you have to be to rent a radio? Well we were so poor that every now and then the TV got taken back for non payment ! A source of much upset and arguments in the home.

Before we had one us kids used to go to a wealthier neighbour and crowd round to watch 'Bill and Ben'.

Speaking of Rocky, Bullwinkle, Sherman, Mr Peabody, etc - I have all those embroidery designs & sell a lot of T shirts, sweatshirts to people of a ''certain age group' :H MINE :H
                      I watched R&B on b/w tv....just like everyone else

I did not win the lottery Byrdie - boo hoo.

Cable TV arrived in my town the year my daughter was born. I loved having it to keep me company om those long, long nights sitting up with a newborn.
