    100 Day Club members/Maintenance Thread

We saw a play this afternoon in the city, called The Book Club.

FAngel, I think you deserve that new bike. How old is your current one? My aging back loves my shock-absorbing seat post. We plan to go to Florida a week from tomorrow, staying a week on Sanibel Island. I look forward to riding the many bike trails they have there.

      I think I deserve one too! :H:H:H
My old bike is a Trek which I bought in the mid 90's... it's a good bike, but I would like to upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes & lock-out front shocks. My current bike doesn't have shocks, which is something I think would really be good for some of my aching joints.
The color, model & size bike that I'm interested in should be at the store around the 2nd week of March, so I'll go put a down payment, uh...I mean, have a look at it.
Biking season is so far away, with all the snow we have it could easily be May until the bike trails are clear.

      Enjoy your rides Sunbeam!

        Hi there!

Terrific day of skiing yesterday, and no falls!

We bike year round here in No. California - a huge reason to be here, is outdoor exercise is always available. It's part of what keeps me sane and happy.

From a post by Lavande in the NN thread, (hope you don't mind me quoting you Lav), she wrote:
"I made a little ceremony of pouring the last of the wine down the drain while vowing to buy no more! That was nearly 4 years ago"

I think this could be something interesting to talk about. How many of you did a specific "ceremony" to signify the end to your drinking? I remember Doggygirl took a picture of herself pouring out the last bottle of vodka... what a great reminder she will always have!

I didn't take a photo, but my last drink is forever burned into my memory.
I poured the last half of my drink down the drain that night & said "no more!". A couple of days later, just to make my statement even more concrete in my mind, I poured a 5 gallon carboy of wine down the drain too! :H Those images have stayed with me ever since.... I still remember how empowering those actions were to me... I was now the one in charge, not AL.

I don't remember the last drink, just the day after. On June 22, 2012 I looked at the recycle bin, and decided that too many of those bottles were mine, not just my husband's. He drinks reasonably, I did not. I caved a couple times after that, but I am close to 6 months of consecutive AF days now.

FA, the features on the bikes just keep getting better. It is worth spending the money, you really get a much more enjoyable ride, which means you probably ride more, which is why we have bikes! Mine is a Bianchi, about 10 years old. The bike in my avatar is a Sunbean bike, isn't that cool?

FA - I remember that night very well
I was scared to death because I didn't know how I was going to quit, I just knew I had to right there & then. I was supremely tired of disappointing myself so this quit had to be THE LAST quit!

All I remember from that night is that my husband hissed at me, "Just LOOK at you!" And he left the house with some clothes. The next morning he came back for more clothes and told me to be thinking about how to divide our assests. I told him I'd stop drinking, and he said he didn't think I could....that I was too far gone. That day I knew I had to stop....and I did.

But make NO mistake I didn't do it alone....the Newbie's Nest, and specifically, LAV, pulled me thru it. I couldn't have done it long term by myself I'm sure of that...there are too many landmines out there. I am so thankful for this place (and people like LAV!!!) it's not even funny! This site tops my Gratitude List, and Lav is right there front and center, too.

So no, I don't remember my last drink....only the aftermath of it. Byrdie

There are so many remarkable stories here on MWO of people turning their lives totally around. I'm sure it's hard for some that are starting out to imagine people like you Bryd, & Lav at their lowest point. They see you as their rock.
What a wonderful place this is... to see lives transform right before our eyes.

Lav, your words resonated so much with me. I didn't know how I was going to stop, I just knew I had to. I made that decision on a Monday morning, drank the rest of the day, then got up early Tuesday, poured out the full bottle of vodka and the remaining wine, and came seeking help. My first MWO posts are on that day. K9 found me and sent me to the nest.

You know there was no ceremony to it, no last meal with a great red wine. The pleasure had left me at that point. I was in its clutches and desolate. So I just poured out my jailer.

FA you are absolutely right ~ this is a wonderful place. So many of us have changed our lives & our futures as well

Byrdie, glad I was able to help you out & now you are paying it back by helping so many others!

Cat, we just don't know how strong we actually are until we take that leap! Being a non-drinking adult was totally new territory for me. I just couldn't even imagine how it was done. I agree, the pleasure of AL was long gone. That's why I will never, ever go there again

and so I can pass the story on......Dont remember too much about the morning I decided to give up..tho Im sure America will!!!had a banging headache, and that worried me because I didnt usually get al headaches Previous night I had 2 quarters vodka, at least 4 cans of 8% lager (I think) and a couple of minitures..not a lot, compared to some but as a daily intake it soon mounts up.The next day was my birthday and I remember thinking, make sure you enjoy tomorrow, cos there arent going to be many more with the way you are going.I then decided that enough was enough and that was it , but didnt have a clue how to crack on with it, so went on the internet, to see what I could find , local but not too local so that I would be known.
Came across MWO...and thought, right give it a go though to be honest I was very doubtful. So I signed in and put my first post up asking for help. I got 3 replies back pretty much straight away, from Flossie,Jackie Claire and Byrdie. To be honest, once I got those replies the job was done...I was determined not to let those people down, and tho it was really hard at times, almost 8 months later, I can only say 2 things...it was worth it ...and thankyou
Since then I have made several friends on here, but also in some little way I hope that i have helped someone as I was helped

PS...Lav when you think about it really now, you are responsible for all the crappy jokes on the thread!!! :H:H
