Lav being around booze doesn't tempt me in the least either. I have been out to bars with him and have had parties at my house with tons of booze around. It repulses me if anything. I can't even stand the smell. I feel like a huge hypocrite complaining about him when I was doing the exact same thing a couple years ago.

I have finally learned that other people won't do something just because we've asked them nicely.
My husband's snoring was so obscene years ago I got him to go for a sleep study. He was borderline sleep apnea but was told to lose some weight & his snoring would stop.
I encouraged him to lose the weight, tried to help in every & any way I could. He never lost weight & just picked up & moved out instead. Yeah, there's more than one way to do things
We just can't change someone else's behavior - they have to do that themselves.

Hi, Lav and Byrdie - I'm glad you liked the video. Free at Last and I have managed to become quickly obsessed with her and her message and would like to figure out how to become her BFFs :H - and maybe see her in person!

I am totally guilty of squashing joy by anticipating potential loss. I've always known that but somehow she has illuminated the whole thing and made it clear why and how to change.

Thanks Byrdie and NS. I think G-Man is at 100 as well. I have been enjoying my sobriety daily with the thought of any encounter good or bad is a lot more manageable this way. I owe lot to you all here and grateful to the posts that keep me busy rather than drinking with the constant reassurance that it is a better life sober.
